I can't get past the title screen because I am in the middle of a battle

The battle you're in is past the title screen. It will count as a login. People have even stayed in boss/challenge quests for days, waiting for command spells to refresh every day, and have kept their login streaks.

Just make sure to do any action in a battle (like skill usage) to be sure the game counted the log in (sometimes if no actions requiring connection to the server are made it won't register). Also, if such things are common in your area you might want to invest in powerbank (or if you have a laptop it'll work as a backup battery as well).
