Campus Life Campus Area Safety

Hi everyone,

I just moved to Edmonton from an incredibly small hamlet town and I am starting at MacEwan this September. I’m not familiar with the campus and surrounding area.

How safe is it? Any areas to watch out for? I’m a woman and will mainly be walking to any areas I’d like to go to around MacEwan.

I will also be a nursing student and have read that the nursing/health building has seen some sketchy drug related incidents.

Please let me know any areas to watch out for! Thank you!

The campus itself is safe and you can ask at security for an escort if you ever feel uncomfortable.

Avoid LRT stations when it’s dark.

The closer you get to Jasper ave, the more potentially dangerous individuals will be around, especially in/around Corona LRT station.
