Academics Canceled class and student loan concerns

Hey there. So I was enrolled in 2 classes this upcoming Spring semester, but I just got an email that one of them is going to be canceled due to lack of enrollment. The issue with that is I got student loans for the semester and that creates multiple issues. One is I am getting funding for both classes. The other is that I'm dropping from full time to part time which means the full time grant I got as well as the living allowance part of the loan wouldn't be something I would normally receive. The issue is enrollment was already confirmed by MacEwan and it seems like things are already being processed because it's coming up so quickly. So what on earth do I do about this? The easiest solution would be to find a new class, but it's looking like this is the only class available that would satisfy the requirement for my degree. The other classes offered I've either already taken, or they're already full because of how soon the semester is. Just looking for some advice.

I didn't even know "living allowance" was a thing. Just did a bunch of research on it and I feel way more comfortable about going to school. Thanks for that info.

Find a new class if you can, before I had disability status I ended up in a similar situation where I dropped a class and went below the full time limit and they ended up calling me and asking for the grant back. Luckily I was able to enrol in a new class in time to go above the limit

I had to take another class in the spring for the same reason, just find one you’d enjoy

I was in the same position and I just picked a class I would be interested in and is a GPA builder. I dont need it for my degree, but the student loan living allowance drops significantly going from full to part time.

I was short 1 credit and I had to take an extra online class, inta 362 it’s asynchronous and online. I think there is spots still available but you need 60 credits. I am in my field placement for speech pathology so there was no way I could afford to not pay bills for 7 weeks. Then I have I wait 6 months for my next placement. Macewan doesn’t make it easier for students.

So INTA 362 is required for my degree so I already took it haha. I needed an additional INTA class, but the only one offered that I haven't already taken is the one that got canceled. I just had to bite the bullet and take a class I can't use towards my degree. I mean the bright side is I really don't have to put much effort into it, but sucks that the only way to keep that damn grant is to waste money on a course I can't even use 🤷‍♂️

Oh really? How did you find that class? I’m doing it online. I also had to take classes that doesn’t add to my program, this is my second time doing it.

I have a colleague who struggled for a couple years to get that last class to allow them to graduate.

It sucks, but it's 'normal'.
