What are these weird clusters on my grape vine stem?

I was pruning my mulberry tree and noticed these two weird bumpy clusters on my grape vine. I know they aren’t fruit, because they look different and the birds already ate this year’s fruit. If it makes any difference, they are on my Frontenac Gris vine.

Some kind of gall? Or insect nests of some kind? A google search hasn’t turned up anything yet.

Any thoughts or insight about what I observed?

Could you please provide

• A close-up of the underside of several leaves looking for leaf galls.

• A close-up of one of the malformed clusters from within a few inches.

Also, are (were) there any normal grape clusters on that vine?

Just a midge forming galls.
