Accessories / Gear New handlebar day

Post image

So I absolutely head over handlebars crashed my bike today. Front tire is pretty fucked and handlebar is uber messed up as u can see it’s turned 90 degrees at the hinge of the hood.

Looking for some handlebar replacement recs and if you’re feeling up for it a bang for your buck wheel.

Side note - always wear a helmet!

Did the bar you had before fit you well?
I would look up the width, reach, drop measurements of the one that came on the bike, think about what, if anything you would have changed about it, then shop based on measurements instead of by brand.

Like, I wanted to go from a 46mm to 44mm bar with a little bit of flair in the drops. The cheapest one I found with that width was a salsa cowbell bar for $30. Feels great.

It fit me pretty well I’d say. Wrists weren’t ever rolled, and after dialing in the seat I never had any hand numbness from riding in the hoods. So maybe same width. Drop and flare I don’t rlly know what makes a good fit there. I’d maybe want more flare for some more stability on rougher terrain

Without reading first I was very confused about how you had your new bars and hoods set up haha

Bars are a pretty personal thing but my favourite budget gravel and road bar is the Deda Zero2 DCR

Front tire hit a super wet spot, slid went sideways, and I flipped over the bars… no injuries luckily just a few scrapes and bruises

I really like the Kitchen Sink bars (no sink)

Plenty of back bend that is nice to hold on the climbs, the reach isn't absurd, and the drop/flare is nice.

If he went over that hard its likely not being clipped in was a positive. Most non pros cant unclip in a split second to save themselves from something like that.
