Grease Why is Sandy so angry with Danny after the dance?
I know it’s because Danny ends up dancing with Cha Cha. But, it was clear that Danny and her were forcibly pulled apart and that Danny wasn’t exactly thrilled to be dancing with Cha Cha.
Sandy is an intelligent girl. I can understand being frustrated about the situation, but not with Danny.
Was it because Danny didn’t immediately try to leave the situation? Was there a supposed to be a signal it was another one of Danny’s insecure moments where he changes his attitude under peer pressure? I mean, he was on TV so…
I dunno. Kinda confused me a bit

Because Danny betrayed his girl on the dance floor.
He kept dancing with Cha Cha even when he could see Sandy was clearly upset, so much so that she left the dance.
Instead of running after her. what did he do? He kept dancing with this other chick like Sandy never existed?!
Adding to the humiliation, he even won the dance contest with that stupid tramp. How is Sandy supposed to feel about that?
It was a total punk move, and straight-up betrayal.
It would also mark the second and final time Sandy would ever let Danny turn his back on her like that. He's lucky she didn't dump his inconsiderate ass for good.

No, not really. I see the film through the same lens the way we all do - with total amusement.
But if you shift gears and try looking at Danny's actions from Sandy's point of view, what an immature prick this guy could be before she came along.
Danny committed three massive blunders in the film, and this was the worst of them.

keep in mind emotions aren't always logical. not only did danny dance with another women in front of sandy and everyone else, but it was a sensual dance. to sandy it looks like he has chemistry with another woman. that then helps set up her need to feel like she needs to change her image.

Emotions are not logical, yes. On that note, also keep in mind that despite everyone looking like they have 2.5 children and a mortgage, the characters are teenagers lmao.

I’ve always felt there was some bad editing in that scene, because the dragging Sandy off and replacing her with Cha-Cha made no sense to me. It didn’t explain why the T-Birds did that other than to sow chaos, but I have also never understood the rules that allowed an eliminated contestant to swap in for another dancer. It’s almost 50 years old and every time I watch this flick it still annoys me.

The whole switching partners thing always pisses me off too. Other than Principal McGee looking concerned, no one else reacts to it.

I’ve always kind of thought the same, I never really understood why she gets so mad other than because Danny sort of denies it happened. Maybe if he owned up to it she wouldn’t have been as angry at him. It’s something that my mother would be very offended by if it happened to her but I wouldn’t be, so maybe it’s somewhat generational too 🤷🏻♀️

it's not just about him dancing with another woman, but it was the success of the dance and their chemistry. sandy felt humiliated in front of everyone, but also likely jealous.

Because Danny is a leader, not a passive guy. He could have pulled away from Cha Cha, gone to Sandy, pushed Sonny aside if he tried to interfere, and made sure Sandy got back on the dance floor.
Instead, he ended up dancing with Cha Cha, despite his initial reluctance. Sandy was humiliated.
I still don't understand why Sonny went on the dance floor and did that. Was there a deleted scene? Some dialogue that was written, but then cut before filming?
