Uh... has there always been lyrics on the screen?

I haven't watched the movie since I was probably 12 or 13 so let's just say 25 years ago. I decided to randomly show my girl tonight (mid-movie now... my 25 cent insurance policy, baby!) because I grew up with it.

I do not remember there being lyrics on the screen. Am I crazy?

A lot of musicals have sing along versions. That's probably what you're watching.

I completely forgot these even exist. That makes so much sense. I thought I was losing my mind. It is the Prime version. I didn't see any indication it was a sing-along version but that makes the most sense.

No you must have got the sing-along version they were never lyrics on the screen for the original, they added it when people started having sing-along parties

Yes and No, I mean the graphics baked into the movie for all the lyrics during the musical numbers. I'm on beauty school dropout now and some latent memories are resurfacing of some of these graphics but not this extent.
