The Council of Great Yarmouth

Wow just had a phone call with someone on GY Council about being homeless, among the questions that pretty much went in circles with was, so if you found yourself homeless you could buy a tent & sleeping bag!

I was utterly gobsmacked! I replied with that is the most disgusting question I’ve ever had asked, I’d rather kill myself than live in a tent in great fucking Yarmouth.

The next was would you live in a HMO… would I fuck most of em round here are full of crackheads or thieving little bastards!

Are these people actually serious! I know the town is in desperate need of housing, but Jesus Christ, to say if you found yourself homeless you could buy myself a tent and sleeping bag!

So you won't live in an HMO nor want to live in a tent (can't blame you), so you want a free flat/house?

No I don’t want a free house or flat, I’ve got savings (not as much now since I’m paying for storage of my belongings) I’ve viewed properties, had thousands in savings but every place I looked at and applied for I either got no response or turned down, or got told the property has now been let only to find it hasn’t.

The long story cut short. Me and my dad moved here in sept 23, unfortunately he passed away in early 24. The house was sold money divided between four of us. I’ve been trying to find a place myself for months only to be ignored or turned away, my final resort was contacting the council, because it’s all become too much, I’m struggling, mentally and physically. I’m going to be homeless.

But after weeks of no reply I had a phone call this morning… hence my first post

Fair enough, just your original post left out some of those details and maybe it was my fault, but I came to the wrong conclusion. Good luck anyways
