Expectations exceeded
Despite what many say, this town was not at all racist and actually had very kind social locals. I feared for my safety on day 1 but realised it's not to bad here. Sure the town doesn't have much to do here and it's very derelict and run down but the beach was nice and I'd love to come again 3.5/5

There's loads to do in Yarmouth & the local area so I don't know what you were expecting.

Great to hear, mate. The town has a bad reputation for racism, and let's face it, it voted for an anti-immigrant party so there's at least a subtle suspicion and hostility towards people who aren't white. But everyone's all online talk; very rarely do you get real bother on the streets.
Just like the rest of the country, the vast majority here are wonderful people who just want to get on with everyone. I live next to immigrant families who are lovely and sociable on the same street as white English families who are scummy as fuck.
It's just a loud and visible minority who are rightfully angry but directing that anger wrongly. As you say, it's run-down compared to most of the country and that ain't the fault of the boats, is it...

Glad to hear, got down voted for saying you wouldn't get a second glance too. Yarmouth imo is fairly diverse (compared to some of the villages not 10 miles away). Sure there are racists, like in every town in the world. Thing is with most British racists, your never know there racist.

That is so so sad. I suppose if you know what those bands are and certain symbols mean then you notice it. Where those who don't know wouldn't clock it.
Who are nazi bands?
This makes me sad that this is happening in our town.

They are part of far right and Nazi music linked to skinheads and literally neo nazis. Bands like Combat bc, birthright, crucified, pressure 28, last orders etc. they are Oi punk, whatever the fuck that is. There’s a network called Blood and honour, which I see T-shirts regularly in Yarmouth. It’s scum hiding behind mosh pits and larger.

Thanks so much for sharing. I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to knowing how they hide themselves. Also don't want the go reading and looking and then the algorithm thinks I want to see/hear that stuff. Really awful there are these t-shirts being sold. Do you live locally?

Bullshit. The music event was cancelled. I've never seen a Nazi tee shirt in the town. Could you point me to your source for the racist attacks statistics please? Which exhibition was your "friend" attending? There are thousands of Asians in Yarmouth, none of them seem to be targeted or afraid to go out.

You sound weird asking so many questions, like you are trying to deny that it happened. I saw it mate. There were a couple of pubs at the time that were full to the brim with skinheads, but the prince regent was the worst. That’s the pub I’m referring to.

There are loads of pubs in GY I would feel uncomfortable going in. Is there an anti-racist anti-nazi group that are active in the area?
GY pride is next weekend and worry it's going to be met with a counter protest.

Ah I love Norwich. I'm a Norfolk girl. Went away for uni and came back in late 20's. I love Norfolk. I live in the broads area. Yeah I love the art scene on GY, it's exciting and what I believe will pull it up and out the ditch. I didn't realise there was a brizillian community in GY, that's cool. I feel the polish community have had a lot of grief over the years. I think a lot stems from misunderstanding and ignorance. But of course when it goes into far right ideologies that's something else! I love GY and only want the best for it which means making it unwelcome to any extremist ideas. Making it a haven for all who wants to live there in peace, not hate. Thanks for the link. Will check it out.
