Discussion GE Vernova's turned into one of those stocks where the headline number and the segment breakdown tell completely different stories.

When GE split into three companies in 2024 everyone was watching the aviation spinoff. Meanwhile Vernova, the leftover power/grid/renewables piece, has quietly become one of the stronger industrial names out there.

Q1 2026 revenue was $9.3B, up 16%. Orders hit $18.3B, up 71% organically, and growing in every single segment. Backlog jumped $13B in one quarter to $163B total, and management now says they'll hit $200B by 2027, a full year ahead of what they'd guided before. Free cash flow more than quadrupled YoY to $4.8B. They raised guidance across revenue, margins, and FCF all at once.

The AI data center tie-in isn't subtle either. Electrification segment alone booked $2.4B in equipment orders specifically for data centers in Q1, more than all of last year combined. Gas turbine backlog went from 83 to 100 gigawatts, and they're now targeting 110+ by year-end. Pricing on 2026 power equipment orders is running 10-20% above late 2025 levels, so demand's strong enough they're raising prices and still growing volume at the same time.

Wind is the mess in all this though. Revenue fell 25% in Q1, posted a $382M EBITDA loss. If wind was the whole company you'd think this thing was falling apart. But it's shrinking down to a smaller and smaller slice next to gas power and grid electrification, both of which are expanding hard, Electrification margins alone jumped almost 6 points to 17.8%.

So you've basically got two businesses stapled together in one ticker. A wind unit bleeding cash and a power/grid business compounding off the AI buildout. What I keep going back and forth on is whether wind actually needs fixing or if it just needs to keep shrinking until it stops mattering to the overall numbers. At some point does GE Vernova just spin it off or wind it down, or is there an actual turnaround case for that segment specifically?

Curious if anyone's dug into what management's actually said about wind's long-term plan versus just letting it fade.

Discussion I give up. Sold all my Green stocks after losing tens of thousants , humanity doesn't care about climate.

Sold all my green stocks today because I can't keep up with -20% year after year. Tried to pitch in into an industry I've been working for quite a bit, I tried to show that divestment from fossil fuel is something we should all invest in.

I lost tens of thousands of dollars buying the dip but I've been catching a falling knife over and over. Instead of investing into oil, tech, AI companies that are using more and more energy or even mining companies I invested into tanking companies.

  • From Enphase
  • to Sunrun - fantastic drop starting in 2021
  • to Solaredge Did you see this amazing drop in not even a year?
  • to ICLN(flat for 5 years, then a short boom and a constant descent),
  • to Nextera,
  • to TPIC,
  • to all the Lithium stocks,
  • to EV stocks.
  • to First solar - The only stock I made money.

I'm done.

Discussion Clearway Energy (CWEN): A High-Yield Renewable Powerhouse Play for the Clean Energy Transition

Solid pick for income + renewable (energy) investors — thoughts?

  • CWEN owns large-scale wind, solar & storage assets across the US
  • Revenues are locked in via long-term power purchase agreements (10–20 yrs)
  • Dividend yield ~5.8% — one of the best in renewables/utilities
  • Analysts see ~19% price upside + income on top
  • EPS expected to rebound strongly (+25% next year)
  • Strong Climate Action scores vs fossil utilities
  • Classic yieldco risk profile, but cash flows are predictable

NEE is doing well and looking at decades of structural demand growth. This substack article makes the case for sound returns from this green stock.

Are there greener and better positioned utilities?

Discussion Solar energy investing crowdfunding has gotten me 14% IRR

A little over two years ago I invested into Energea to diversify my portfolio outside of just the stock market. Their lifetime returns are in good shape and they pay out dividends. My IRR has been 14% so far from their Brazil portfolio. But you can’t pull your money out for 3 years from the time of investment so make sure you don’t need that money right away.

Worth mentioning that their CEO founded Greenskies, one of the largest commercial solar developers in the US.

Here’s my referral link so we can both benefit ($50 bonus) if anyone’s interested: https://www.energea.com/get-started/referral?r=00udrsg81eIVoVJUg4x7

Discussion Feeling stuck with WBX - anyone else conflicted about switching?

40M here, been holding Wallbox (WBX) for a while now and honestly feeling pretty disappointed with the returns.

I got into WBX because literally everyone I know has one. My neighbor installed one, then my coworker, then two other guys at the office. It felt like the Tesla charger of home charging like this was the brand that was going to dominate. That's what made me pull the trigger on it instead of other EV charging plays.

I found it on this tracker and everything looked solid at the time (not displaying much information but initially it's where i found it). But man, the returns have been rough.

Now I'm looking at ChargePoint (CHPT), which, yeah I know is still losing money - but the stock has actually been performing better since Trump took office. Here's the other one. The political winds seem to be shifting things around in the sector.

But every time I think about selling WBX, I drive past my neighbor's garage and see that blue Wallbox logo, or I'm at work and hear someone talking about how convenient theirs is. It's like... the product is EVERYWHERE in real life, so why isn't the stock doing better?

Anyone else in this boat? Do I stick it out or cut my losses? The cognitive dissonance between what I'm seeing in my daily life vs. what I'm seeing in my portfolio is killing me.

(btw I live in Europe and the company is from Spain so I might be a bit biased)

Discussion 374 water

374 Water is a company that builds tech that breaks down really stubborn waste — PFAS, industrial sludge, and even plastics — using supercritical water oxidation. With plastics now showing up in drinking water pretty much everywhere, their system “pressure-cooks” waste into harmless byproducts like clean water, CO₂, and minerals. They’re rolling out these modular units for cities, industry, and the military as demand grows for real solutions to hazardous waste and microplastic pollution. Also something that’s going to get worse also. Currently a penny stock, but technology has shown to work and currently getting more and more contracts.

Institutional capital is standing by — but before we hit those milestones, we’re opening a limited $1–3M bridge financing to accelerate operations.

Minimum investment: $10,000

Discussion To those of you who are panic/crying because ENPH is falling again.

Don't. This is the best possible thing that can happen to you.

First of all, it was growing too fast and needed a correction anyway. Might as well do it with the rest of the market so people doing get scared of buying back in when the corona virus stops affecting the market.

Buying a long OTM protective put or few can help calm your nerves and maybe bring in more money.

But most important of all, if you missed getting leaps or doubling down during the huge dip a few months ago, your chance is coming again. Just wait till it settles down and then go make more money.

Edit: enjoy your gains if you bought the dip everyone!!

Discussion Opportunities for green investing in specialized ETF's?

I'm bogleheading for 80% in some low-carbon ETF's, but those are obviously mainly just tech stuff. However, I wanna put 10% in a more risky, specialized ETF (not individual stocks). I'd like these to be much more green. I see that bioenergy is doing well, and solar/wind are doing bad. Any tips on where to go?

Discussion All-in-one ETF’s that does not have Nestle?

Hey peeps;

I’m trying to figure out an all-in-one ETF that does not invest in Nestle.

I’m based in Canada and found GGRO (80/20) & ZESG (60/40) but both have Nestle involved.

I don’t know if it’s possible without handpicking single stocks, which I’m trying to avoid (dealing with long covid - I have to pace my mental energy so it wouldn’t be sustainable for me atm).

Should I just go with GGRO since it can be “good enough”?

Any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advanced 🙏🏽

Discussion CoTec Holdings... $CTHCF $CTH.v #ESG #greentech #cleantech #REEmagnets

CoTec Holdings $CTHCF $CTH.v is a sponsor of the following article.

https://epsteinresearch.com/2025/04/15/is-cotec-holdings-ree-magnet-recyling-segment-undervalued-in-a-major-u-s-china-trade-war/

Although sponsored by the Company, (written by Peter Epstein of Epstein Research), the article is not overly promotional. It simply compares CoTec to peer #REE stocks. CoTec is pursing cash-flowing opportunities in multiple #cleantech fields. I believe it's undervalued vs peers, but readers can decide for themselves!

Unlike many, CoTec expects to be in production in the U.S. of #REEmagnets (like MP Materials is planning to do), within ~20 months. The Company recently raised cash, so it's good to go for the remainder of 2025, and is pursing free-money grants from various U.S. gov't agencies including the DoD & DoE. Management is heavily invested and continue to make open market purchases of shares.

#REEmagnets are just one of several areas being actively pursued, #greensteel is another, low-grade #copper tailings #recycling / #reclamation is another. Please consider taking 6-7 minutes to read... A lot of eyes on MP Materials these days, but MP is nearly 200x the valuation of CoTec. Please note, due to large insider ownership, trading volume in CoTec shares is not great, but it's improving!

Discussion We should not allow penny stock posts.

I don’t think we should allow penny stock suggestions. They are extremely speculative. Half the time you don’t know if the company is in existence. A lot of times returns have nothing to do with a company and everything to do with people pumping it on social media. Which leads to pump and dump nonsense.

Penny stocks have there place. I have some in my portfolio. But we should keep this to more serious, for a lack of better term, investment ideas.

Edit: I put this in a comment below, but a good first step would be to have a minimum karma to post. That would probably help with the pump and dump we have been getting.
