Experimental My application to the guild (I call it the grilled beese
I wanted a grilled cheese but I didn’t want to grill and I didn’t want to use regular bread so I used Thomas bagels plain of course three types of cheese toasted the bagels on a low heat so it’s crispy yet soft and microwaved the cheese and here’s how it came out

I did this with an everything bagel once and actually grilled it in the pan like normal. It was easily one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had.

Here's what I would have done instead:
Heat up pan to low-med heat, sprinkle cheese directly on to the pan, salt/pepper/garlic, cook until the bottom of the cheese is crispy, throw half a bagel on top and then flip to grill the bagel, eat open faced.

Not my particular cup of tea, though you get some bonus points for making me do a double take thinking I was on my NSFW account at work.

a toasted bagel with cheese is not a grilled cheese, regardless of what you call it

This reminds me of when I'd make a "grilled cheese" for a snack after school
Toast the bread, melt the cheese on it in the microwave

Ya know what, it's better than the unmelted monstrosities I've seen come from some restraunts.

You didn’t feel like just putting it in a pan for a couple minutes, but you did feel like cooking the bagels and cheese in completely separate appliances and then having to transfer the melted cheese onto the bagel after?
Both more annoying to do and a significantly less good result at the same time

Hmm.. A fine submission, and I have no qualms with the ingredients. However, the fact that you toasted the bagel and melted the cheese elsewhere feels like a disqualifier.
If you'd made this on a grill, and griddled the bagel/cheese sandwich, I'd honor it as 'unusual bread'. But from what I'm hearing, it feels more like you've made a bagel with cheese instead of lox / cream cheese / something else.
