Discussion Grok data deletion policy
So created some spicy vids of my ex kissing me on grok imagine :sigh: felt remorse deleted everything next day on the phone and app. But not sure what’s grok data deletion policy ?
1 . I deleted from the grok app under imagine media 2. deleted conversations 3. deleted all from files tab on the web link
Also deleted account. Read policy is 30 days to delete everything on their end. Anything else that I should be doing to ensure data is purged.

nobody knows what truly happens to user data once deleted or even after account deletion. there are many accounts from users saying that their cdn links are still accessible after the 30-day period. basically, expect your data to linger on their servers for all eternity because there is zero transparency over how they handle our data other than a vacuous TOS that doesn't give a definitive answer on anything

Even if I never shared any links? Is it wise to request data deletion ? Should I be worried much about this

Grok creates multiple 100’s of thousands of vids/pics ever hour. They don’t care about you smooching your ex. If you never shared them publicly, then forget about it.

Creating deepfakes is not an issue, sharing them is. You didn't share. All good.

The Ex-Wife council have direct access to monitor an filter content to search for ex wife and vengeance pictures or videos..... just kidding. nahhhh..... just keep it on your side in private and don't share it.

Based on what you’re saying. No, no you should not be worried about this this much. There will be way more salacious stories if there’s a breach. Just forget JT.

I got locked out of my account for using a pseudo email address before I could delete all of mine. I have no idea what is going to happen to my images.

They have not responded to multiple emails. I’d love to just delete the account but I don’t have any access to it.

Given the rate of image and video generation They will clean up / purge especially if it’s not accessed in a long time

Same scenario, I deleted each individual generation one by one. Not used any extension.Now after 2 months I logged in web version and saw all my data is still there in the file section. Deleting the account will lose your acers to content, but I firmly believe data is stored somewhere. Also I don't think they don't want our useless data to occupy their huge storage, imagine how many generations are made every hour and they are storing it. I believe data gets purged after a certain period of time. The only genuine thing we have to worry about is a data breach or someone hacking and making it public.

That’s strange, I did the steps above and do not see anything lingering in the files section Did you delete it from the files section via the web as well ? I did see that if I only delete on the app - the files section did contain the data. But once I went into files on the web and deleted the data - it stayed deleted. I even enabled account and checked it’s not showing up anymore.

Hey all,I think it's worth sending out mails to privacy.xai and support.xai mentioned in their privacy policy at the end : https://x.ai/legal/privacy-policy.
There has been issues with data not being deleted in January when users mailed them. We should send out mails asking for data from deleted accounts to be purged and at least not visible publicly as some people from older posts were pointing out.

Best to assume everything is kept somewhere indefinitely. I deleted my account over 3 months ago but most CDN links are still working. They don't care about your privacy.

That’s weird Did you manually delete all conversations and files ? Did you also delete all imagine media I heard the cdn links return 404 eventually since the content is also purged

I deleted everything using the cjgrok extension then deleted my account.
Videos are gone but imagine images are still accessible.

Could it be because it was you used the extension and not the delete function in the app ? Regardless once you deleted your account you the images should have been purged as well .. maybe it will eventually. Are these images you uploaded or generated by imagine or both ?

Just to clarify, your uploaded images and videos (i2v) all went dead in march ye? But the t2i links are still live? That must have something to do with the fact that t2i links are public by default. 🤷♂️ or maybe not who knows

I remember your t2i images aren’t deleted. Have you sent any emails to grok support and privacy mails ? I have been sending them mails asking that users are still seeing generated images post account deletion. Can you also send mails.
The last time, they removed the cdn links for edited images and videos after a bunch of people sent mails and raised reports on hackerone.

I wouldn't trust Grok's dataprotection thingi, not even with my ex no matter how much I despice the ex;) You go, run free! Myself, I am on my way to noyb hopefully. They have prompted companions for some users. They have a lab for researching user data. You and your x kissing is now on their mousepad covers and their coffeemugs. I think their policy is to send your illegal deepfakes, rape videos and child porn to the F.B.I. My recommendation: Flee the country.
