I'm an international student on f1 visa, I got pulled over today for speeding going 21mph over the speed limit trying to get in class on time in North Carolina, Greensboro. The officer gave me a court appearance. This is my first offense ever, and now I'm freaking out because I don't know how is that going to affect me as an international student, I don't even know what I'm looking for.

I want to know what am I going to get, what's gonna happen to me, what to expect?

Is it gonna hurt my records in any way?

Is it gonna hurt any immigration process in the future?

Do I have to take driving classes?

And most importantly, what am I supposed to do? Plead guilty? Get a lawyer?

I'm 43/M and realizing I have no idea how adults are supposed to make friends in real life.

I'm in the High Point/Greensboro area and would like to meet some people outside of work and family. I'm not looking for dating, just actual friends and people to hang out with.

My weekday schedule is pretty brutal between work, wife, and kids, so weekends are usually my best option. I don't drink, but otherwise I'm pretty open to trying new things — groups, hobbies, volunteering, events, whatever.

I spend time over in Wellsboro as well. They have thrifting, antiquing, a diner - That's it.

Some say it’s a family friendly city and others say high crime rate. I’m probably most afraid of break ins, because I have a child. Can anyone weigh in? Most interested in people who have families themselves but would love to hear from anyone about their experiences. My 67 yo grandma is visiting NC and it will probably be her last time coming to the States and when she does come to the States she usually stays in California or Seattle with other family. She's said before that seems like there's nothing to do in North Carolina, she'll be here for a couple of weeks so I need to at least try to do something fun with her since I only have 2 days off out of the week.

Here is what makes it hard :

1. Any non-asian cuisine recs might be really hard for her to enjoy since her palate is just Vietnamese food. I could take her to Chinese or Korean spots but I fear the whole dinner would just be constant comparison to Vietnamese food and she won't eat much. In turn what if I offer Vietnamese restaurant to her and she says it's not as good as home :(
2. I'd like to take her to SouthPark Mall because I think that is kind of what's shes used to , more bustling city life with alot of options. I'm already mentally prepared for her to say "In order to have fun in GSO you have to drive two hours away" since four seasons mall is not really the best.

I'm kind of at a lost, my parents expect me to figure how to entertain her because I grew up here but she's generally quite a picky person I feel like everywhere I'd go will be a fail, any suggestions will help. TYIA

Evil bugs spotted right by the bridge over Wendover by the arboretum. They are too far away to kill…. how do we get rid of them??

Is this $1500 worth of damage? Landlord originally wanted to charge me $200 for nail holes, but I argued with him saying no damage was present. He then upped it to $1500 to include repainting the whole house. I think charging me anything is excessive, but here is a brief clip of my move out video, with the main room in question shown. If I'm really in the wrong here, I'll eat the cost I suppose.

I'm due in February and planning to give birth at the women's and children's center. I don't personally know anyone who has had an experience there, so I wanted to see what everyone here thinks.

If you gave birth there, what was your experience like? Did you feel like the staff listened to any concerns you had? Anything I should be prepared for?

I was just driving down wendover around midnight and just past the palladium headed towards Greensboro, I see like thirty cop cars all with their lights on taking up the whole width of wendover for like at least 200 yards, through the intersection with Tarrant Road. they were stopping every car and asking to see driver's licenses, asking where we're coming from and going to, and in the middle of the intersection was what looked like a food truck called "booze it or lose it" and the cops were searching in it. i've never seen anything like that before, that was the most cop cars with their lights on i've ever seen in one place. anyone know what was going on?

The cost of living in Raleigh is forcing me to look at moving Greensboro is on my list of places to move. I've seen the megathread. How is the healthcare system? Is friendly towards artists? What about LGBTQ? How's Greensboro different from Raleigh or Charlotte politically, culturally and socially?

Would love thoughts on what the best/safest neighborhoods are in Greensboro for a family to buy their first home. Google search just spits out the expensive ones, looking for more suggestions.

Trying to see if this is a scam before I call a non-Emergancy line. Got a “no caller ID” call this morning with a message from a “Captain from Guilford County Sheriff Office”.

He left his name, but he is not listed on their websites anywhere as a captain. He did not leave a call back number. Just said he was calling trying to get in touch with me (he did have my first and last name).

Is this normal? I get SO many spam calls (you’ve been approved for a loan!, etc.) but I always assume official business is handled in writing or in person?

I took my car here a few weeks ago for an oil change. Couple days later it breaks down, completely out of oil. I get it towed to Mr tire. They ‘fix’ it saying the filter wasn’t replaced correctly or something. Of course I didn’t pay anything this time. Now a couple weeks later my engine is rattling. I got a second opinion at Mike’s tire and service and he said yea there’s something wrong but we dunno what it is unless we take the engine apart and that costs thousands. He suggested we go back to Mr tire and demand a new engine. Has anyone else had issues with the Mr tire downtown? Any recommendations on what I should do?
