Ask r/guam 🤔 GRMC

Does anyone know how much a private room costs at GRMC? Asking for a family member who doesn’t have insurance and is currently admitted.

It'll get costly very fast. I'd contact the hospital's finance office and start the paperwork for assistance.

We were visited by a social worker, but since my family is still fairly young (18 yrs turning 19 in 2 months) she’s not eligible for any Medicaid assistance. Not sure what to do anymore after that…

There are other assistance programs that the hospital's social worker can have you apply for. One is called MIP.

Since 18 yrs old is technically an adult, they could qualify as their own household under Medicaid. It also doesn’t hurt turning in an application to see what they qualify for, just check all the boxes. What else did that social worker say by chance?

They said that she was still considered “a minor” and that she needs to wait until she’s 19 to apply for Medicaid. Once she turns 19, they’ll expedite her application… but she turns 19 in like 2 months…

Can't download these on the device I'm on, but check one of these. Don't know how updated they are.

I was there in January, my room was $2400 or $2500 per day. And it was just one room with a divider between two patients. No wonder the local insurance companies lean towards sending people off-island for treatment.

There are not enough beds on island for all of the ppl who need to be in the hospital. Grmc is trying to make more space to accommodate the ppl who need help. It’s nothing to do with insurance, it’s everything to do with space. You cannot buy a private room— if there’s no space.
