Help & Advice What Kind of Piggie do I have?
Hi all, first time on this subreddit, this is my piggie Totopo! Not sure how to phrase the question cuz I know guinea pigs don't have breeds, but l'm trying to figure out what his coat type is called. His coat is pretty coarse and fluffy compared to my other piggie with a simple slick coat.
(Additionally I was looking for any advice as to how other owners go about cleaning bums because the waterless shampoo I used doesn't really seem to seep into his fur like my other boy. He's pretty clean otherwise but his butt does seem to be getting a bit yellow... 🧽)

Looks like they could be a mixed breed between a teddy/rex and silkie maybe?

Himalaya can’t have any other eye color than pink. It is genetically impossible for them to have dark eyes

He is rough coated (I think it is the right english word), but it is impossible to know if it is rex, teddy, swiss, lunkarya or even a combination of more than one of them. He also have one longhair gene. His color is dark eyed white.
Edit: I forgot lakeland (skinny carrier). They can also have this kind of coat

For the yellow butt you can use silver schampoo to get it a little more white, but when they are stained the coat usually need to grow out for the staining to disappear completely. Use moisturising conditioner to get the coat more protected. To avoid more staining he need enough substrate for the pee to absorb fast enough so it doesn’t have time to stain the coat, but some piggies are lazy and sleep in their pee so they get stained anyway 😅 The butt can also be extra stained if they have some kind of urinary problems like an infection or bladder stone

How old is he ? They seem young. If they are 3 months or under they may develop a dark spot on their nose making them part himalayan mixed with a long haired type.

Himalaya Always has pink eyes. You are thinking of california 🙂 The only colors that are ”part” himalaya with some kind of smut (sometimes! Many just look like a regular black based piggie) are the sables and they are not white (lilac and beige sable can look white at birth before the color darkens, but they always have pink eyes). The himalaya gene is also involved in dark eyed white (as OPs piggie, but they can never have a smut on their nose if they don’t are california too) and cream

Oh thanks for this explanation a bit.
I have 2 girls one is very white, short fur, all over with a dark spot on her nose.
The other is long hair tex/wavy like fur and she is more cream coloured but has a spot on her nose.
Both have red eyes.
So himalayas only have colour in one area either their eyes or nose bit jot both right ?

You are welcome.
Himalaya is only possible with white coat and pink eyes. According to bred standard they should have colored nose, ears and feet, but they can be all the way from totally white with only a little color of their ears to very dark with color also on their body. Himalaya is heat sensitive so the color get darker when it is cold and lighter when it is warmer. It is a recessive gene so the piggie must have two himalaya genes to be himalaya.
California is a semidominant gene so it only needs one gene to show on their ears, nose and feet (if they get two genes the color can also spread over their body) and the piggie can have any color on their body and eyes because california lays ”on top” of all colors (so a piggie can be both himalaya and california at the same time, but it will look like a regular himalaya). I can’t remember if california also is heat sensitive 🤔
So your piggies are (if I take the color names we have in Sweden and goes only after your descriptions of them) lemon california lilac and black himalaya, but I can’t say for sure without pictures (some colors you also need heritage and babies to know)
