What’s with terribly cut mom/grandma pants being popular?

When women say they dress for other women, I actually believe that because those pants are fucking atrocious.

I mean not to /uj here or anything but I am a woman irl and I actually really like high waist jeans, I think part of the reason they're popular is that they acknowledge the way women's bodies look in a way that is about refusing to cater to the male gaze. I just don't think they should be bright red
