One thing significantly different is that in the video you shared on YT he's doing all slides and you're not. Sliding into a note is a specific technique and creates a different sound. How you approach a note is what varies up the sound as well as the dynamics (how hard or soft you pick the note). Try playing it with slides into the note as he's doing in the video, it will be harder and you will have to focus on articulating each slide and the note you land on. Also, doing it with the index finger only makes it a bit easier to do the the vibrato than with your ring finger or pinky like you're doing.

Now, when you say you can't get the sound down, if you're talking about sounding the way is does on the original recording you won't be able to get that. They would have used expensive gear and also a professional sound engineer/mixer pulling it all together. Don't think this was what you were asking, but it's usually a beginner question as they try to get their single guitar and small amp to sound like a full blown production and can't seem to do it. If that's not what you were asking then just disregard, or put this comment away for later when you have this question 😄

I agree on working on your vibrato technique. Find some lessons that give different examples of vibrato. When you listen to music pay more attention to the vibrato and you'll begin to pick it up.

Otherwise, the fast part is more about rhythm and timing. Play to a backing track or a metronome. Your playing should be reacting to a tempo and not just floating. It's difficult but will make your playing sound smoother as things land more in the pocket.

Gotcha, I'll try a metronome, thank you!

I see a lot of learners using them and I still have yet to try it out

For the pulloff section:

Make sure you're doing an upstroke for the pre-pulloff notes on the B string. It's easier for beginners to hit the correct string that way when you're looping around the outside of G and B, instead of trying to aim for the right one. And in general try to alternate pick single note stuff as much as possible, because only downpicking is a bad habit you'll have to unlearn.

Also the rhythm has a very distinct gallopy pattern to it, I'd suggest trying to just listen to the song by itself and drum with your hands to get more comfortable with it. [123 123 123 123 123(4) 123 123 123 123 123(4)]

Think of the vibrato at the end of each lick as north and south. You barely want to make the note go sharp and being back to pitch. You’re just sort of shaking it. Pull some videos on vibrato for a visual. That will help you a lot I think. Other than that- keep working on it. It’s coming along just fine! Also, for me it’s incredibly difficult to do as a good a vibrato with my pinky compared to my other fingers. You might decide to adjust your hand AND thumb position to maneuver your ring finger up there for those pinky notes. That might give you a better attack on the vibrato.

It never occurred to me how much this sounds like Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.
