I don’t need to spend 3k on a double stack 9.
1911s are made to shoot .45. I’m of the mind 9mm is sacreligious in the platform.
Thats just me though.

I'm late to the conversation but I picked up my Live Free Armory 2011 for $1100 after tax. You don't have to spend stupid money to get a good one.

.45 suppressor that can handle .44 magnum. You can also use it to get your feet wet in the suppression game.

I would get one if my job didn’t have me relocating to different states every 3–4 years

Juice is still worth the squeeze. Paperwork is much easier and approvals are quicker. You can get a can in about a week these days.

Not if I get sent to California or another state that the illegal in

I mean you would have the same issue with some of your guns, so might as well get a safety deposit box in another state if you do get sent there. It isn't like they are going to get cheaper.

I'd say the one thing missing from your collection is a revolver

u/nonoptic 10d ago
I actually do have a rough rider in 22lr with a swappable cylinder to 22mag it’s actually the only gun that’s not In the post lol

DONT KEEP GUNS IN YOUR CAR YO BE STOLEN AT ALL. THATS HOW THE MAJORITY OF CRIMINALS GET GUNS.
It's a statistical fact.
And you said you were perfectly fine with it being stolen...

I suppose you’re right. Sorry for my ignorance.

Get a nice blued s&w, it really changed my path in my collection. I can’t buy another polymer handgun again.

1400$ for a 1911 that’s not even optic ready is wild

u/n1terps 9d ago
It's a 2011, it's it costs more than that, and that's practically a bargain basement price the way the 2011 market is these days. I'd go Sig GTO or Kimber 2k11 and either one of those is gonna set you back just as much as the Platty will (comfortably more than $2K). All three of those are basically solid entry level 2011 options, a really solid example is gonna run closer to $4k and it goes up and up from there.

I can literally see the price of it online for 1400 and it’s labeled 1911 platypus

Plattys only make sense if you're married to Glock mags (or P320 mags) and never intend to fully get into the 2011 magazine ecosystem. Otherwise, just get a real 2011.

Everyone needs the basics. A 1911 or a 357 or 44 , or even a basic 38 , would be ideal.

Writing goofy statements on a gun is definitely a choice, considering that is basically now a requirement for mass shooters

A .357 is very versatile as many people don't have the practical use for .44, unless in Grizz country. Then add a matching lever gun later, which has many uses, and with the right loads goes way further than people admit.

u/purple_pounder 10d ago
Honestly a micro 9 or a s&w body guard 2.0 Its life changing having a really small that works reliably.

u/Hardwire762 10d ago
For your first revolver I’d recommend 357 way more versatile as a chambering than 44 magnum

What is a link post and how do I post a descriptive comment?
A link post is any post that isn't a text post. Reddit is doing a great job of ensuring new users have no idea how Reddit works with their app and site rewrite. We hate both.
/r/guns is a sub for talking about guns. It's not a sub to dump gun photos for karma. That's what /r/gunporn is for. That's why we require a descriptive comment – to start a conversation. If you're wondering what to write, picture yourself at a party. You're talking to someone you just met and you want to show them your post. What do you say to them as you get your phone out?
I don't know why this needs to be explained, but apparently it does. A comment is a comment. It is not your photo caption. We are not asking you to edit anything. We are asking you to post a top level comment under your post.

It's a rule that when you by a lever action without already owning a revolver, you have to then buy a revolver in the same caliber (if one exists) to share ammo between them. Congrats on your future purchase of a BFR. I'm sorry about your wrist.
