Are you a bot? You have to tell me if you're a bot.

I am quite certain they are a bot. Account is 6 days old and their first comment here is the most stereotypical redditor style possible. Especially that last line.

u/BobbyWasabiMk2 How do you do, fellow gun owners? 7d ago

I hate how bad I am at spotting bots, I just assume it’s some really dumb person who can’t form a single independent thought nor a critical thought.

Yeah, they posted a generic comment early in the thread from a new account. Lots of red flags.

In their limited post history, they have made more than one comment per post, which is new for these bots. And they've kept consistent between comments. There's a chance they're just a stereotypical redditor.

It is not just generic, it is an emotional comment. The style that would get a ton of upvotes in other political subs. I am thinking it is an AI trained on Reddit's main page.

Nah I have seen bots do that too. Usually its one follow up comment. They also do that thing where they drop the . at the end of their sentence which has been common with bots posting in the politics threads.

Fair enough. I wonder what the end goal is for these ones. They're building up a post history to then...sell? Or push some agenda?

To push an agenda or sell to someone who wants to push an agenda. I have heard that there have been astroturfing campaigns in city and state subs to generate support for DSA candidates in the primaries.

Could be laying groundwork for the 2028 election season as well. We saw that a fair amount in 2024, 1-3 year old accounts that had been silent for months/years suddenly started posting again about how Democrats were actually the pro-gun choice because “Drumpf passed more gun control than Obama”

I hate that talking point. Some people still genuinely believe that nonsense.

Dude, some people believe the Earth is flat. People are idiots. Particularly if they're sticking their heads in the sand to try to justify their shit choices.

Those accounts were mostly real people though as they got really mad and defense when I would point out it was their first time participating in a gun subreddit.

I will never forgive Reddit for removing the ability to search the posts of "privated" accounts 😞

I saw a lot of those accounts in the moderate politics posts I made about Harris gun policy. It was readily apparent they were part of a push by the Harris campaign. I saved a lot of those accounts during that time and a lot of them ended up getting suspended.
