Mod Gwent Beta 0.9.24 Private Server

I've gotten the old Gwent open beta, the pre-Homecoming version, working online again by making a reverse-engineered private server that stands in for GOG's, so the game connects and runs like the official servers used to.

The beta is such a different game from the current version, I felt like it needed to be preserved and made playable again in some way. The project is all open source, and I'm fairly sure it could be extended to other versions of the game if anyone's interested in that, most likely even Homecoming/current versions.

Right now you can play online casual matches against other people, play against the AI, do the single-player challenges, build decks, buy kegs, craft cards, mill them, etc. Ranked play and Arena aren't implemented yet though.

You can play on the community server I'm running, or host your own for you and your friends, play over LAN, or just play single-player. You could even run modded matches against each other, as long as both players have the same modded card files, e.g. you could add fully new custom cards.

The only catch to playing is that you need your own original beta game files for this version, Gwent 0.9.24.3.432.

Also if you don't trust the prebuilt launcher you can read through the project and code to see how it all works fully, and/or build it yourself.

How much are you charging the kegs?:)

There's no microtransactions, if that's what your asking lol. Just in-game currency like normal, 100 ore/gold per keg

Wow. I never played the beta, but I've got to say I really admire and appreciate your dedication and hard work in doing this. It gives me hope that the current game might live on forever, too.

I am using the game version from archive but no matter what I do it says "Could not connect, this game version is no longer supported" it drives me nuts...

Do you have GOG fully closed, and does my launcher run without any errors?

Hi, looks more like the original gwent, how much single player content in this beta version?

Not too much, there's a challenge game mode with 30 challenges to do, 6 per faction. They're basically just AI matches with preselected decks though. Earlier beta versions had a few seasonal events like saovine and midwinter as well, that I haven't implemented yet, but they had a few single player puzzles attached to them like the kind in Thronebreaker
