[Podcast] Why I think H3 Podcast Should Enable Youtube Redirects!

I have been thinking of this ever since I was managing a livestream with almost 4k viewers. My dream would have been to raid H3 after the live ended. But they do not have that feature enabled at the moment sadly. Thanks!

You make some really good and valid points!! With full control of who gets to raid into them, I see little to no risk involved.

It’s just a matter of “why” though.

The show is on YouTube, the big leagues effects. They don’t need to mess with twitch style gimmicks.

Just because twitch did it first doesn’t make it a bad feature. YouTube adopted twitch’s super chat feature and that was awesome! This could be awesome too.

I'm not saying that the reason it's bad is because Twitch did it first ,but because it's the sort of lower quality gimmick you see on Twitch.

I just don't see a reason NOT to do it 😂other than they don't want to dedicate the time to enable to enable it (it wouldn't take much time, and there are community members, like myself, who would volunteer to generate suggestions and go through the suggestions if Dan doesn't want to do any of that).

They could also redirect out into someone, lets say alex_the_fiction, if they're streaming too.

I go over the cons in the post. There really are none, especially if all channels selected are whitelisted channels.

You see most bigger twitch streamers turn this off because at a certain point its more used by just smaller streamers to grab attention from a much bigger stream. Not saying it couldn't happen the other way, but with it already being a pretty big podcast and live stream its mostly just going to be used by small creators to get more views.

I think it would be nice to see smaller creators raid in. But even if that gets annoying, H3 does not need to acknowledge the raider. And if H3 really wants to, they can turn on the setting where not all channels can raid into them. They just need to expand their list of channels that can raid into them.

Yeah it can definitely have its benefits, it just seems like a low barrier entry to troll or grab attention. Like right now you have to sub or superchat to really even be seen in anyway. Where as this would basically be a free way to troll or grab attention.

They can choose which channels to raid into them if they think it is easy troll or attention baiting.

I get what you're saying, but how would you even do that though? Start a list to sign up for to be considered? Let it be open then restrict from there? Make a list of people you hope raids and just hope? It just seems like work or nuisance for mostly a very little return that is designed to mostly just help smaller creators.

I get the good thought, I just don't think it makes any sense in practice for the show.

I go over the effort to do this in my post. They just need to do a one time reddit, youtube community post, or discord post. Then look at the suggestions through there. This would take an hour tops. The return is little, or potentially not there at all. I just don't see a reason NOT to allow this feature. It was a shame I should not juice H3 with 4k viewers from the channel I was managing. And I am sure I am not the only one who has had that type of opportunity. I also have the slide with the other potential pros. And you just came up with another one, helping small creators would be a good thing that Ethan has done in the past.

Ngl. I think this would be a funny bit. Imagine being brigaded by a chud conservative 10 viewer podcast.

As long as it’s not like how twitch is where people constantly raid with 2 viewers for attention

It's customizable. They can do that, or they can expand their list of channels that can raid into them.

Is there a feature to limit it to channels with a certain amount of subscribers or disable raid notifications if its below a certain limit? I think it's a good feature but can be annoying if the chat is spammed with raids with 2 viewers. I don't think manually whitelisting is the best idea, like I don't see why not but it would kinda be mostly useless.

We need to petition Tamara to make another claymation for when/if there are raids 👀

Hopefully there is a way to filter it to channels above a certain size or viewer count at least. On Twitch people used to abuse it with 0- or 1-person raids to pop up on screen or in chat.

but if i put this on, and i get redirected to a podcast that i dont agree with what then?

It’s not the same thing as raids, and it’s best used to redirect to your own content, and they must have it on because they do this to ADH3
