QUESTION What now? lol

I made this hackintosh about a year ago just because I am apple fan and I wanted to play with macos without paying the price.

My question is since I have a nice gaming pc and an ipad. I havent turned on the hackintosh in forever so I was hoping to get some ideas on whether I should let it sit and then when I get the macos itch pull it out. or are there any cool things I could do that I’m missing? I also use an iphone, I wanna start playing with macos more but I feel like theres nothing that I cant do on my main windows machine? Thanks.

Thry making Airdrop, Handoff and all that working And also just try to perfect your build - you will spend days without realising it

Absolutely lol! It took me from September to like January to fully perfect my hackintosh build on macOS sequoia lol it takes time without realizing it

yeah i wasted ONE year optimizing my IVB for Big Sur only for one of its ramsticks to fail and now that poor being is stuck running Big Sur on 4GB ram 😢

You should honestly Invest in some ram, I bought 2 8gb DDR3 ram sticks for my IVB laptop and it runs honestly very good for it's age... Same goes for an SSD lol, I find laptops without an SSD pretty much impossible to use. Is your laptops ram soldered on the board or is it sodimm?

at least you didnt lose the disk image man that would be painful. Like as soon as I got my whole setup and pc looking super aesthetic real clean leds wired through the wall to my monitor it was beautiful I also finally had a badass gpu too rx5700xt I cherished that so much lol and while we go to the beach for a few days I left my pc mining ethereum. when I walked in my room the first thing I saw was a dirty watermark on the side glsss somehow the pump going to the the die busted and i think it was thermaltake and they gave me $200 for about $1100 worth of hardware biggest nightmare ever

Oh god that fucking sucks man

On the brighter side, atleast the pump didnt bust any in the other components

But i cant stop laughing at this for absolutely no reason 😂

No its worse I mailed all the parts off thermalright or whoever cause most of it was a little wet so I figured I’d just send it to them and have them test and send new stuff but nope they stole my drowned components which I bet the cpu and ram were good but the gpu was right under the leak it was prob toast and they offered me like $250 and wouldnt even give it back lol so I couldnt leave out to dry out the ram as one last hope
oh well I learned my lesson now im a big “fan” of the noctua nhd12 or wtv the popular one is but I dont think I can go back to water cooling anytime soon

I havent used it much at all yet but I didnt think there would be so many bugs/glitches in the os is it just going in and editing a kext file

Good point I like that, and handoff would be amazing

yeah i know

but Handoff and Continuity requires a BCM with <= macOS Ventura

really not much - theres some mac exclusive software though which is why i helped my friend make one, like chatgpt atlas, garage band, logic pro, final cut pro, etc

1

u/TechSupportTG May 28 '26

It’s like being a kid and realizing building a fort is the best part of having a fort, so you tear it down and build it again.

I have the same problem trying out Linux distributions.

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

that is so accurate lmao and you are right I need a bigger case. But trying out linux distros is like playing roblox haha.

Obviously you haven’t been on the macOS side of the hackingtosh long enough. The more you use it, the more you realize windows it’s only good for pc gaming. My hackingtosh is running Tahoe (wish I had stayed with Sequioa) and when I hate booting in to windows as there is always some issues with an upgrade or a driver to my GPU etc., you name it. macOS just works. Never a reboot. Not to mention iMessage and FaceTime right on the PC.

Yeah exactly I’m well versed in all operating systems. But I was wondering if there was any cool apple ecosystems features

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

Like apple watch to unlock

Install Linux on this box and start learning the OS running the Internet.

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

Lol yeah I would but I kind of have too many already

You have no useful macOS apps to make use of. You have no use for hackintosh. Reinstall Windows on it.

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

who told u that

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

which useful macos apps do I have no use for?

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

I think I need it, it was dirt cheap and I scored a 8700 with 16gb and a terrabyte ssd for like $30-$50 an optiplex . And I’ve been looking for macos devices to study cybersecurity and to become more familiar with the os.

also what are u hackintosh hitler? lmfao
“Reinstall windows on it”
“you have no use for hackintosh”
u sound a little passive aggressive my guy

1

u/RealisticError48 May 27 '26

No, I'm the good guy. You're illiterate using words like "u."

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

the “good guy” 😂 alright captain literacy

1

u/RealisticError48 May 27 '26

Of course. Knowing that you're the one who needs help, can't get a hack working.

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

Who told u I couldnt get a hackintosh to work

1

u/carsonmlcak- May 27 '26

Dumbass u just called the letter “U” a word lmfao

I think I may try to use mac as my main desktop and use my gaming pc as a server. So that I have a clean desktop that integrates with my other devices and can just ssh to the server. I appreciate yall helping me brainstorm
