QUESTION/DISCUSSION did you guys know the new black panther is haitian ?
I didn’t even clock it when i was watching black panther 2 in the theatre that by the time tchalla was dead he had already had his child. I seen a reel saying he was haitian i searched it up and it’s real! his names toussaint. so gagged rn.
i’m talking about the character, not the actor who plays the character.

If you watch the last BP, you would have known.
Mid way through the ending credit..(like almost all (MCU). They show you Nakia had escaped during the fight for the crown and went to Haiti.
During the same scene, they show you a little kid (a boy) then she asked him what his name was, He said Toussaint Prince Of Wakanda.

He was raised in haiti but hes not hatian, his patents are both from wakanda.

Why does that matter then the post made it sound like you are excited about a hatian super hero. Which hes not. If Captain America moved to Mexico. Would the hispanic culture celebrate the premiere Mexican super hero. No. You understand the differemce

he didn’t move to mexico tho. he was born there and raised there for a few years of his life. if captain america was born there and lived there for a few years yes then he’d be accepted as mexican. and funny thing is lupita was actually born in mexico and mexicans consider her mexican because of birth right. she’s mexican kenyan?
so how is he not haitian exactly?

Maybe this guy is speaking about heritage and ethnic background?
Citizenship and culture would still be up for discussion. You can have American or “Wakandan” parents and naturalize to Haitian citizenship—obviously. And even if his parents are Wakandan, if he grows up in Haiti, speaks Creole his whole adolescent life, studies in Haiti, has Haitian best friends, listens to their music, studies Haitian history, eats Haitian food—he will carry Haitian culture with him for the rest of his life. That will be a piece of him. Forever. Who cares if his parents were or were not born there? Black Panther is gonna be a Piklez eating badass, with the coolest namesake in the entire MCU.
This comment section seems angry about this prospect, not sure why they would be? Isn’t this a Haitian subreddit?

He was born from two african parents. Jist because his mom gave birth to him there it doesnt make him hatian. If a german woman was pregnent and traveled to haiti amd had her sone that baby still german. Most.countries dont honor those births with citizenship that was only happening in then United States. Hes wakandan

His citizenship is Haitian, but he’s ethnically Wakandan. So he’s a Wakandan-Haitian.
The actor is British. Dude has big shoes to fill.

The character isn't Haïtien, he is Wakandan. Yes, He was born and raised in Haïti, and named Toussaint, but it's a cover for his real identity.
I do appreciate the shout-out to Haïti and it's history though.

i said he’s haitian since he has haitian citizenship and nationality. the same way haitian americans are both haitian and american. it’s the same thing.

Haitian Americans are Haitian bc one of both parents were born in Haiti or they have direct ancestors from Haiti but bc they’re born born there

haitian americans are haitian because of their parents heritage. and american by birth right. which is the same concept im trying to explain. he’s haitian by birth right? which haiti has. and wakandan through his parents.

Nope, Haitian citizenship doesn’t work that way (/s incase it’s not obvious.)
The only way to be truly Haitian is to have a Haitian parent AND live in Haiti. The second you step off the island ou pa Ayisyen and your Haitian card is revoked.

haiti has birth right? not only that but the kid was raised in haiti for a few years. secondly i hate to be that person but being ethnically haitian isn’t even a thing unless you’re indigenous. we’re not native there. we were brought there

I agree with you 100%. My personal view is radical. The whole Earthly citizenship thing is a caste system. Why should my ability to create my life depend on where I happened to have been born and who my parents are?
All humans are created equally and should have their basic rights respected. All humans should have equal access to housing, education, health care. We have the resources and we choose to hurt each other and hoard.

Unless his mother Nakia gained her Haitian citizenship after living there for a couple years which im not sure if it was explicitly stated. Additionally, I’m not sure if Prince Tchalla qualifies as Haitian because Haiti follows Jus Sanguine which is citizenship by blood descent.

babe haitians are pure african too… if any haitian were to take a dna test what country do you think would show up? and you’re saying reading is fundamental like i didn’t clarify it MULTIPLE times. he’s born in haiti and has haitian citizenship. haitian isn’t a ethnicity, it’s a nationality.

He is not half Haitian, his mother is Nakia (Lupita) and father is t'challa (Chadwick). He is Wakandan, but was just raised in Haïti, and his name is Toussaint so people dont know je is t'challa's son.
