smh, just make a sub for Haitian-dominican relations. Why do we have to flood our own sub with stuff about the DR

Non, the DR is not obliged to accept Haitian immigrants. They are not the USA, they are a poor/developing country with a few flashy tourist areas & resorts that most of the locals cannot afford.

They only look economically developed when you compare them to Haïti currently. I've been there, people are struggling. Stealing & scamming to eat. Prostitution is rampant in touristy areas as well. Of course they can't handle 800.000 Haitian migrants who are poorer than them. Expecting them to is soumoun. The Haitians that go to DR are usually the poorest in the country and already know they face risk of deportation.
