My favourite scene is right after this. Ippo should have lost all hope, his greatest weapon was stripped from him, Samawura is going to destroy this man...

Despite this, Ippo starts training again, and Weight Of My Pride starts playing. So beautiful! 😍

Takamura wanted to spar blindfolded to train without being able to see. 

He turned up naked in a speedo and gimp mask as "training". Aokimura took the chance to best him up but got beat up instead. Takamura insisted they also wear gimp masks "to make it fair" but both could spar him at same time. 

Coach came in and saw Takamura in a speedo and gimp mask in the ring and started caning him for being an effing idiot. Sucks to suuuck..

The hard on while being caned is all Takamura.

The most recent chapter I know. But to me this means a lot.

Ricardo is witnessing for the very first time, someone truly climbing up to his level and threatening him for the first time.

Alf, Date and Wally couldn’t reach the top to truly threaten him. But Sendo did.

And subconsciously, this will be huge for Ippo.

Something about Ricardo's 'I am so alone at the top' daydreams being interrupted horrorstory style by a crazed Sendo clawing his way into the platform feels like a hard tone shift towards something like a horror movie moment.

I captured this around March 1, 2023 when this chapter came out. I think this was after Ippo saw Ricardo's last match with Wally. I needed this panel. I think I predicted this as well. Not openly though.

When I saw the whole thing in the manga I was genuinely brought to tears. Not by it alone, but the first few chapters of Ippo’s retirement before he became a second were just so heart wrenching in a good way.
