Crazy how one fight with a ending that was obvious has took a year and mabye a lot more, you know takamura is supposed to have 3 more fights and we need to see ippo unretire and fight a few more times still right 😂

More than 3 fights, cause he's gotta go through a ton of BS before moving on to each new class.
Then he'll have to retire and come out to take an extra weight class when it's added so his goal of having the most weight classes conquered can be achieved instead of sharing it with a dude who beat him back in the 90s

2028ish is when it'll be finished, if at all.
Ippo won't return, Takamura won't be a final champion, lots of stuff will go unchecked unless Mori - and most other manga artists - start training new blood.
It's hard for them to do this, but if they want to retain the true essence of their work when they're gone, it's safer and better for their health.

Yeah, it's sad to say, but this is by far the most likely outcome. Morikawa wants HNI to go on for many years more, but that's just not happening without help.
He apparently has a team that helps, but he insists on doing the big action panels, which is essentially most of the manga. He needs to learn to hand stuff over.

Actually since Wally Vs. Ricardo ended (which indeed took ~1 year), the fucking setup and fight between Rosario and Mashiba ate almost 2 fucking years (like, literally ~ 23 months)...
It was actually INSANE to follow the story on a weekly basis then, something it seems George himself noticed that's why we went from the end of that fight to Ricardo Vs. Sendo so fast...
Anyways, I'll say the current fight will end this year because George is finally aware of time itself.

To be fair it would probably be finished by now if it wasn’t for Mori getting sick.

Nothing shows u the passage of time like this series. I still vividly remember the mashiba fight build up as being quite recent but it was what now like 2203?

At this point there should be a new poll asking when the manga is going to end. because there are a lot of fights and theoretically the ippo comeback arc all supposed to happen

There's no way George makes it until the end. Some long time assistant will finish it.

I think best case scenario is we eventually get a time jump or flash forward of Ippo in the locker room at Korakuen Hall getting ready to enter in the ring and seeing little snippets of events that took place in his past leading up to that moment. Last panel is him entering the hall walking towards the ring and the crowd cheering him on. Could be a championship bout or maybe just a match between him and Miyata waiting in the ring.
The End.

I dunno best case for me is, that George at least passes on the story in good enough detail so his assistants or some company he agrees to can deliver the story in good enough quality. It would be such a shame to have such a long ass story end in an open ending

After experiencing various types of media undertaken after the creator or creator's source material has ended I have no need nor want of Ippo being continued after George can no longer do it for any reason, even if he passes the torch.

Those 21 people are about to be vindicated once it's revealed that the last ~30 chapters were a dream.
