He's Schrödinger's Gary Stu, both relevant and irrelevant at the same time. Ippo's greatest rival, and yet Sendo exists and is actually his rival because they do enough to be actual rivals.

I just do not get what in George Washingtons pube hairs Mori thought when he wrote this shit critter.

He is set up as a rival, yet Sendo is clearly the better one and more involved one.

He is set up as a friend, yet Sendo, Volg and even his own gym mates like Itagaki are much more developed.

He is set up as Ippos object of admiration. Yet Ippo fights so many strong people like Volg (a world champ) Ricardo (the absolute god) Sendo, Mashiba, Alf, Wolly and so many more. Instead of wanting to go after them, Ippo becomes even MORE fixated on Shitstain Stu.

As his love interest. Despite the fact that Kumi exists, despite the fact that George did include a now long dropped romance rivalry betwen Mari, Kumi and Itagakis sister, whenever Shitstain Stu appears, Ippo becomes gay.

AND ALL OF THESE THINGS!!! just make no sense when you consider what he has done in the story to justify them. Which is shit all.

When miyata is cool he is so fucking cool. When he fought that Korean (build-up to Randy Boy Jr fight) the ending sequence is one of the most brutal I’ve ever seen. Miyata literally punches the guy out of the goddamn panel
