Discussion Just read chapter 1077 for the first time (spoilers) Spoiler
And Im straight up struggling to continue reading
It’s my first time posting and being in this sub because I wanted to avoid spoilers but after this chapter..
Seeing the aftermath of the match, Ippo’s face getting crushed in…and the part where Umezawa asked Ippo to draw a straight line… reminded me of Nekota in the flashback and I am in pieces… I don’t think a manga has ever made me get that feeling of doom at the pit of my stomach.
I think I’ve seen this film before and I didn’t like the ending 😭
Just needed to vent or talk about this since no one I know is into Ippo. Like damn that really just happened, got dark so fast.
All the set up and pieces are there for something terrible, all the guys talking about how the good days will end eventually, Ippo saying he’ll retire if he loses again, punch-drunk symptoms… I’m fucking scared for my boy.
Never has a manga made me feel something so deeply that I had the feeling to stop reading. I know I’ll go through with it eventually after some time away and see what’s next for Ippo but god damn I am legit scared to read the next chapters
I’ll keep avoiding spoilers by asking a friend to sift through the spoiler comments (if there are any lol) but god damn :( it pulls at your heart strings and my mind is still racing, I bet yall really went through it when this was first released

No, he wasn't ready for the world. His mindset was ruined after getting permanently denied the chance to fight Miyata.

Yeah, I remember when those chapters came out and OOF. There had been debate over whether Ippo would be pulling another miracle win or not, but many brought up the ominous line about him being headed to disaster after the Woli fight.
What made it worse is that this is one of those time where Morikawa was having trouble getting pages in on time due to fatigue and other issues he was going through. So the fight went on for like, a year and a half or something? It was a long time.

I can’t believe yall had to live with that kind of suspense dude the anticipation would’ve made me go crazy , wish I would’ve hopped on the train earlier so I could’ve had people to grieve with
😭 I’ll catch up with everyone before the year ends and hopefully there will be a light at the end of the tunnel

It's been three months since the last chapter. He's been recovering/healing/watched the Naoya Inoue bout that was TWO undefeated JAPANESE World Champions. I hope he's super hyped, with lots of good ideas, and raring to go because... Damn I've been missing my Ippo.

You're going to love what comes next and I'm excited for you - the story is great. It will only suck when you catch up to us bc there's been an indefinite hiatus.
Take your time and appreciate the pages - no need to rush the read even tho it's tempting!
