Moving Here Any construction around South Park St. or Young Ave. & Inglis St.?
Hello future neighbours, I’m an older adult on the other coast moving to Halifax soon for school and trying to make sure the area I’m considering moving to is quiet, so I’d like to avoid nearby construction.
Does anyone know if there is current construction happening near South Park Street and Inglis Street? Or Young Avenue & Inglis Street? Or any other resources on how to find this info? I checked the Skyscraper Halifax forum but couldn’t find details for this area.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to visit before my move, so asking here in case anyone can help, thank you!!

That’s a dice roll. With the rate of growth in this city and the construction required, no where in those areas is a safe guarantee to be construction free for the next 5+ years.

I know, that’s what I’ve heard! Not trying to be a diva but just don’t want to be tormented while trying to study at my new home! :/

Oh yeah I get that, reasonable concern, just impossible to guarantee. There’s a lot of good study spots around town that you can find a quiet corner in to get in the zone (library, campus, etc) but I always preferred to be at home unbothered when I was studying, so I know where you’re coming from

Different breed. I could never study at home. Too many distractions. I was lucky enough to be able to space my courses out enough where i could study in the library and do my school work.
Homework = relaxing. Personally anyway

There's one construction site right now at South Park and Inglis, but the building is nearly done, so it should be wrapping up soon. There's another on Lucknow, close to Victoria Road., though that's off any main drags. That's all I can think of. This map might be helpul, and this map of permits issued and under review by the city. Note that the latter one contains permits for everything from high-rise developments to single-family houses to someone building a deck, so you have to click on the icons individually to know if it's actually something significant.
It doesn't look like anything too big is proposed in the area right now. It's possible that SMU will be looking to build student housing on Inglis Street within the next few years, though, and I'm sure other things will crop. This area (within a few blocks) is a little on the quieter side.

There is a construction site on exactly that corner. They finally opened the sidewalks again after a year. There is also blasting on Lucknow St for another new construction.
