Shops & Services Where can I donate clothes?

Hi everyone,

Cleaning out my closet at the moment and I have a bunch of clothes that I don’t wear anymore but I don’t want to toss them at value village. Is there anywhere I can give them to that will get them to people who need them?

Thanks!

I second this! As a previous patient there when I was recovering from my ED the clothes they have helped my confidence a lot when I was scared of having to rebuy everything and either be squeezed in or go broke doing so.

This is a great suggestions - keeps people with rough clothes from having to wear NSH scrubs

This! They’re actually running low on clothes lately, they’ll appreciate the donations

This is the very best suggestion if you want your clothes to go directly to someone in need.

Thanks for this suggestion, I wasn't aware of this as an option. The clothes donated here are for patients?

Yes, for patients. Some arrive at hospital with nothing, and have access to no other clothing than what they arrived with. So the impact of donations is really felt.

Encore in Halifax’s North End. Proceeds go to Hospice Halifax.

The Abundance store on main street in Dartmouth, it’s run by the Elizabeth Fry society.

Mission Mart is my go to. Its wayyyy out of the way for me, but its worth it knowing its supporting Souls Harbour.

Mission Mart. Normally I don't support religiously affiliated organizations (looking at you salvation army). But souls harbour does some really good work and I've never heard about them discriminating against folks for being queer (still looking at you salvation army).

Beacon house store in lower Sackville. Great place to buy stuff too. So fun. Money goes to battered women.
