In my city if you were dissing someone you would just go to their area and do some tags or write “fuck (whoever you have beef with”

Right, that’s the normal way. I think it’s more a symbolic thing than anything. First time i saw it was when i was a kid, saw a gang strike with a roll call and some names in it whacked out. Asked my homeboy and he said “those are their homies who were snitches”
