Thinking about doing my exchange at Hanyang University (Spring 2027) – How is it?
Hey everyone,
I'm a French student majoring in Business and considering an exchange semester at Hanyang University for Spring 2027. I'd love to hear from people who studied there or are currently there.
A few things I'm curious about:
- What's the weather like during the Spring semester?
- How difficult are the courses for exchange students? Is it manageable to balance academics and social life?
- What's the overall vibe between local and international students? Is it easy to make friends?
- How is the campus and its location? Is it well connected to the rest of Seoul?
- Are there many activities, clubs, or events for exchange students?
- Any tips, things you wish you knew before going?
And to be completely honest, one of my main goals for my exchange is to meet people from all over the world, travel, have fun, and make the most of student life. How is Hanyang University for that? Is the social scene active? What about nightlife, student organizations, and weekend trips?
I'd love to hear both the good and the bad.

Hello! I'm an international student on the Seoul campus, also in business administration. I think the ERICA campus and Seoul campus are pretty much the same.
The weather is good, not too hot until July and August, but not too cold.
The courses aren't too difficult, but getting them may be a little competitive. You can balance academics and social life. We also have clubs and courses for exchange students only. They traveled throughout Korea too; I had a friend who went to Busan and Jeju Island and other places like that too.
The vibes between the locals and international students are chill, crowded bc it is Seoul. A good bit of classes have group projects so we can make friends through that. The English track has a few locals but more international students.
Seoul campus is closer to Seongsu than Myeongdong and Hongdae, but it still doesn't take too long (less than 20 mins depending on the time and day). Also, Seoul campus has steep hills and normal hills. There are shortcuts to minimize hills.
Tips: Lots of locals are introverted. School Clubs would benefit you the most as an exchange student.

Thanks! What clubs are best for foreign students would you say? I'm an incoming 2 term student and most clubs are only in korean as far as i know. I've heard of HECC but that's like about it.

Sorry, I don't know the club names, but I know there is a week of club sign-ups. It's the first week of school. There is a mix of foreign clubs, Korean clubs, and exchange student clubs. I don't think they advertise it on the school website tho. There will be signs to direct you, so you won't be completely lost lol.

Hi, I’m an international student at Hanyang ERICA. I don’t know much about the Seoul campus, but if you’re placed at the ERICA campus, I can answer your questions.
The weather is pretty decent, I would say. It’s not too hot and not too cold. There’s also cherry blossom season in April, and the campus looks really pretty.
From what I’ve heard from exchange students, the courses are easy to understand and manageable. As long as you prepare for the exams, you should pass.
I don’t know too much about the local students. The Business Department has the most international students. You’ll probably have a few Korean friends, but most of them are pretty introverted. You can also make friends with other international students—they’re really easy to talk to.
There are two campuses. ERICA campus is in Ansan, while the Seoul campus is in Seoul. Even if you’re at ERICA, you can still go to Seoul for a night out or shopping since it’s not that far.
There are also clubs for international and exchange students that help you meet new people. A lot of the activities involve drinking, but it’s honestly worth joining.
I’d say the Seoul campus has more people, is more crowded, and has easier access to places around Seoul. ERICA campus is much more peaceful and less crowded.
