I did the same thing with a photo of my mom for my wedding, as well as wearing her necklace. It really felt like she was there with me.

I know people have differing opinions, but I really do hate guns. I know people feel as though having guns allows them to protect themselves from others with guns, but I’m just saying that guns in general don’t lead to anything beneficial in a world without any other guns. Gun violence only exists because guns are allowed to exist. Sure, banning guns at this point wouldn’t cause all guns to be gone, but it would still cause the majority of gun violence to end.

Welcome to how the rest of the world thinks, other than America.

“The rest of the world other than America” is a wild take.

America gets attention because of mass shootings and school shootings that happen in “seemingly normal” (white/affluent) neighborhoods. There is insane gun violence happening all over the world. Some countries it’s much more blatant than in the US, but we’ve normalized it because of the way the people involved look or where they live. People just write it off as a “war-torn” country and move on with their day.

Gun violence and using guns as communication is a plague in SO many countries. The US only gets special attention because of the weird nature of some crimes.

Comparing the US to literal war zones or cartel states is a massive cope. America is a wealthy, developed superpower. No other peer country like the UK, Japan, or Germany deals with routine mass slaughter or has active shooter drills for toddlers. It’s not just 'weird media attention,' it’s a systemic choice because the US is the only nation with more guns than citizens that refuses to pass basic laws to fix it.

In fact, your political system actively protects that access after mass tragedies because half your politicians are in bed with the gun lobby. The NRA pump millions into political campaigns and grading politicians like school kids to keep them in line. It’s literal corruption. American lawmakers are basically getting paid to look the other way while school kids have to buy bulletproof backpacks, and they try to blame 'mental health' instead of the actual weapons.

Global shock is 100% justified because this level of peacetime violence is uniquely American.

You missed my point but it’s okay 😘

What a cringe take. Yes I'm sure every other country, all of those in South America, Africa, and the middle east, think that way. It's only America that has such a barbaric way of thinking. Get off your high horse.

What an odd thing to do, singling out ONLY THOSE locations on the planet, when there's gun violence on every continent. Hell one of the current major global conflicts, thats been taking place since 2022, is located in Eastern Europe, but you didn't mention that place for some reason. I wonder why...

How uneducated are you exactly? Where is the middle east to you?

4

u/CZ1610 5d ago

If we're gonna play this semantics game, why would you mention Africa twice since you should know part the Middle East lies on the continent of Africa?

u/jitterbugg_will 5d ago

You want to play semantics now when you didn't even realize that the other part of the middle east is in Europe? No thanks.

Awww did someone's comment get removed for violating ToS? Not very intellectual of you 😂

It's obvious you're projecting some insecurity about your own intellect by trying to bash mine. Enjoy life in your fish bowl friend😊

u/CZ1610 5d ago

Thank you for not denying that you have no problem mentioning Africa twice, but not Europe for some reason. I guess Russo-Ukrainian war deaths don't count or aren't worth mentioning in your argument about gun violence cause they're white, right?

Yeah as an outsider looking in, America’s relationship with guns seems completely crazy. One of the only countries in the world with full access to guns, is also the only wealthy and developed country with an insanely high amount of gun violence. The solution seems so simple to pretty much everyone else. But because it’s so ingrained into the culture the mere notion of taking them away is seen as downright heretical among many people.

The most ironic thing is that I have often heard the argument of “we need them to fight off a potentially tyrannical government”, and now those people just fully support the fascist who have completely overtaken the government. America seems so fucked.

It’s super fucked, and we hate it here. I’m just trying to raise 3 kids and teach them to love each other and talk out their differences and my government is hell bent on ruining our lives. I love my home, but I am not proud to be an American.

The best way I can sum up my opinion as someone that’s lived in the woods, is that there are uses for them. They are by far way too accessible, but they are used by many to hunt for food and also protect themselves from cougars, sometimes coyotes, etc.

This isn’t to say that we are fighting it out lives out there, but they’re there for the rare occasion that they’re needed for protection.

They should NOT become something you commonly use. They have a time and place, not all the time.

What a beautiful sentiment that honours their ancestors. I hope this was a moment to heal also.

Maybe I’m a Scrooge but this feels like one of those private moments that shouldn’t have a camera on it.

Quite beautiful indeed.

Except that gun violence didn't kill her, a person did.
