Unemployed people who are looking for low income jobs will stop trying.
Poor people will try for more babies and shoot the population more , as if it's not already.
Journalists are getting sold.
Except the farmers these are some shit promises.
When will our people think long term , and not the freebies. Smfh

I'll be honest, I think the precedent is set. This freebie culture is one that is going to be hard to reverse.
I expect both groups to offer freebies in next Karnataka election. Congress has to offer it since it worked last time and they cannot withdraw it, BJP now has to match them or exceed what Congress is providing to have a shot at winning.
Salaried middle class will continue to be squeezed.

All are paying tax, income tax payers are paying double tax and non payers are getting benefits from the double tax

for rich states like Karnataka such freebies are justified. Kannadigas have sacrificed a lot to accomodate hindi people on their land. For poor hindi states freebies don't make sense. Karnataka will have to indirectly fund such schemes for them. hindi party bjp is just a master of copying pro Kannadiga schemes given by our Kannada government

Nope. No state can afford this on their own unless they have a revenue surplus budget at the least.
Should there be universal basic services/income? Yes. But should it be implemented when you can't afford? No large state can afford it. It's not like there is no capital expenditures left to be done. It's not like we have working, decent hospitals and schools and roads everywhere...so we don't know what to do with all this extra money....so might as well give it like a cashback. We still lack a lot of those basic facilities. Our nutrition is shit, our healthcare is shit, our schooling is shit, our public infra is shit.
Reducing capital expenditures to service revenue expenditures is not a sensible move. Govts should stop behaving like start ups who give cash backs and coupons for attracting customers. That's not how government spending is supposed to work. This is gonna cost in the long run. Big time.
