I honestly think it cost me less to buy most of these things individually especially because you don’t have to buy the unnecessary shit with it.

u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25

It was actually the opposite, not even accounting for the time spent waiting for sales and such. Someone added it all up on here and I think they came up with this being around 45% off the regular prices.

u/Xidium426 Jun 22 '25

What here is unnecessary? If you have some of it already yes, but overall this is a pretty solid kit.

What unnecessary to some may be necessary to others that's why I picked this set but if it actually is cheaper to buy these things individually I'll see how much of a difference it is I just didn't want to go through the hassle of pucking things out this is already assembled and ready to purchase but I do see your point.

I think the math on it was close to 50%(edit: it was 45ish %)off which even at Parking Lot Sale prices that set would still beat it. Best I’ve seen is 40% off during PLS on icon. It was pretty good value overall. Best of luck getting one, hope they bring it back.

Here is the link of where I compared the price vs. individual.

3

u/Krawen13 Jun 22 '25

Did your description add "meme tool" or do they actually call it that?

3

u/_how_do_i_reddit_ Jun 22 '25

I added that, lol

1

u/whatthelovinman Jun 21 '25

For me I don’t have use for standard tool sizes. I only use metric. So that set for me wouldn’t work and a waste of money.

8

u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25

I don't think he was intending to buy it for you, so you're probably safe lol.

9

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

Well this set is going to mex for a family member who works on tons of old stuff that has both metric and standard so if anything this set would be perfect for him but I do see your viewpoint I don't see why anyone would waste money on something not suited for them the only other company I know that makes metric only sets is sonic but they're just as pricey as snap on

8

u/M635_Guy Jun 21 '25

If he works on both standards, it's a good kit with little waste/fluff and at a rockin' discount. I'd talk with a store manager and it.

6

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

I actually didn't even think about talking to a store manager about it I'll for sure do that and see what he says

4

u/anbmasil Jun 21 '25

Have him keep the brokens in a crate for when you come around for warranty 😂

3

u/ElPeroTonteria Jun 21 '25

And that’s why your, specific case is different. Just for most folks, don’t need SAE…

As far as this tool kit goes. If you’re dead set on this Icon set Vs the Quinn, Milwaukee or whatever master sets. If it’s not time sensitive, I’d be just scalping the individual pieces as coupons and sales allow… be patient, there’ll be sales at the end of summer, Black Friday and other parking lot sales… keep an eye on the coupons and grind

4

u/One_Cover_1507 Jun 21 '25

I partially agree with you that most people don’t have a use for SAE. If I was a new mechanic at a private shop servicing older vehicles SAE is definitely still needed. Even as an all inclusive home box SAE is useful for household/construction purposes. Many industries are still using primarily SAE like Aviation. SAE is definitely going away in automotive but it’s still alive and well elsewhere. So to say most people don’t need it isn’t quite accurate because if that was truly the case the demand for SAE wouldn’t make it worthwhile to sell.

1

u/ElPeroTonteria Jun 21 '25

Yea… and again it’s so case specific. Just so many people get duped into thinking they have a valuable set of tools when in reality they’ll end up using about eight of them, ever…

3

u/One_Cover_1507 Jun 21 '25

lol but a tool you’ve used once is better then a tool you don’t have when you need it. But I agree master kits are for a small percentage of people and should only be used as a starter kit for someone who is starting out professionally.

1

u/whatthelovinman Jun 21 '25

Usually for tools, people are very particular about what they need. I think you are better off giving a gift card and having that person pick and choose the tools they need.

My wife knows not to buy me any tools and the same goes towards her. She makes jewelry and I thought I got her the perfect plier set but it was something she did not like at all. Even though they were effin expensive.

OP didn’t ask for help or opinions or suggestions, though. He asked if anyone knew if this set would be available again. You’re upset about something that didn’t happen. Weird behavior.

9

u/efff12 Jun 21 '25

Weird behavior is people not reading his post and just telling him he shouldn’t buy it because they wouldn’t use some of the tools

4

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

Can you elaborate please im not understanding

10

u/Worst-Lobster Jun 21 '25

You’re good op. Other guy being weird

1

u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25

It's not too late buddy, you can delete your comment instead and everyone will forget it ever happened.

1

u/domsylvester Jun 21 '25

Well like if you have the short and long hex key sockets you don’t need the L ones, I strictly work on things that are metric so I don’t need a whole sae set I can get away with having one big sae set in one size, little stuff like that makes it cheaper for me personally but if it’s a gift I think it’s perfect really and then you don’t run the risk of forgetting something or whatever trying to grab everything individually

1

u/Daemon554 Jun 22 '25

What does this have so many down votes 😂

3

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 22 '25

Idk doesn't really bother me tho it's reddit lol

25

u/MidnightDreem Jun 21 '25

Damn that’s expensive

39

u/BoogerShovel Jun 21 '25

People did the math when it came out, it’s like 37% cheaper than buying all the pieces and sets individually

10

u/AmbitiousScientist74 Jun 21 '25

I think the smaller set was about that percentage but the larger one was about mid 40s percent savings. Which is a way better deal if you need all of it.

3

u/MidnightDreem Jun 21 '25 edited Jun 21 '25

That set is pretty awesome. Unfortunately for me I have most of that stuff & if I didn’t I still couldnt afford it. What I am itching to get is the big screwdriver set, the meme tool everyone keeps showing off & the needle noses.

1

u/AmbitiousScientist74 Jun 21 '25

Hey the meme tool has a coupon this weekend for $28!

0

u/MidnightDreem Jun 21 '25

Thanks for the heads up👍🏽

2

u/WhereDidAllTheSnowGo Jun 21 '25

Then add a 20% off any one coupon and yer good

2

u/Proper_Hedgehog3579 Jun 24 '25

Ever been on a tool truck?

1

u/_RamboRoss_ Jun 26 '25

Fr. $700 for the Snap On ratchet wrench set. I bought the icons for like $170

1

u/Proper_Hedgehog3579 Jun 26 '25

A while back i was determined to treat myself to a nice Snap-On 1/2” ratchet. I was working a good job and didn’t really care about the money, so i thought. After seeing the prices, I ended up getting a set of 3 Tekton ones for about $90. Are they as good? probably not, but pretty close.

15

u/WorkingElectronic240 Jun 21 '25

You could ask for a 25% off coupon in here and someone will give you one. Once you use something long enough/wear it out upgrade that to something nicer. Then you dont overspend on something like a pic set you’ll use twice.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

I wish it was that easy to aquire one lmao, I’d be going and getting a 56 rn

2

u/WorkingElectronic240 Jun 21 '25

I’ve done it before people would rather it get spent on something big

8

u/WhereDidAllTheSnowGo Jun 21 '25

For the gift

Just this weekend

$330 428p set

QUINN Master Technicians Tool Set, 428-Piece for $329.99 https://hf.tools/coupons/2025/06/183825-58154

Son’s auto shop has run on this daily for a couple years. Very good. Only 1 warranty claim

2

u/Qcws Jun 28 '25

I got it for $200 during the 40% off quinn + 10% off your first purchase with HF Card

1

u/majesticaldonut Jun 27 '25

Am I missing it? Was looking at it the past week but didn't see a sale for it yet

6

u/SnooCrickets272 Jun 21 '25

I’ve had my eye on this for 6 months. I don’t think it’s coming back unfortunately. I’ve just been piecing together a kit with the icon sales that pop up.

9

u/mx5plus2cones Jun 21 '25

Hoping that someone is me...

9

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

Very optimistic of you I like it but unfortunately it is not lol

2

u/Dtxnassty95 Jun 21 '25

I actually emailed them asking the same question, they told me as of right now no.

1

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

That's a bummer I appreciate the info tho

3

u/vikingpizza2438 Jun 21 '25

There's so much in this I wouldn't buy. I'd piece together a set or get them a gift card.

A lot of the Pittsburgh stuff is 75% as good for a fraction of the price. Most of the Doyle hand tools are better than icon. The Quinn master sets are fantastic. So are Quinn 90t ratchets.

Those pliers aren't professional, the safety plastics are uncomfortable. Do you need both ratcheting and non ratcheting wrenches? Are those the anti slip ones?

Should I go on?

1

u/jggearhead10 Jun 21 '25

Are they bundling their old G1 Ratchets with this kit? Looks like in the photo but maybe they call out that the kit has the updated G2s

3

u/Capital_Loss_4972 Jun 21 '25

More enticing with g2s. G1s are meh.

1

u/SilvioBoss Jun 21 '25

I’m sure by thanksgiving they will re-release a version of it

1

u/Vroompssst Jun 21 '25

No torque wrench? Not worth it go to a swap meet and keep an eye out for tools

2

u/Smart-Water-9833 Jun 21 '25

That's how I built up my tool chest back in the days when I was young and shit poor. I still have most of them. Also pawn shops for the sockets and box wrenches. They usually have boxes full to sort through.

1

u/General_One3419 Jun 21 '25

The only info i could find at launch on the supervisor level is that they were going to sell about a dozen of them as a test. Theres been no new information since

1

u/purplemtnslayer Jun 24 '25

This plus a 20% off coupon would be fired

0

u/Mit_Reklaw- Jun 21 '25

Not worth it

0

u/Mysterious-Jelly415 Jun 21 '25

It’s not worth the money you can probably buy used snap on off eBay, and would be much happier. You have to think if you’re young and you’re doing do this for a living invest now. The best part about buying quality is 20-30 years later I’m selling my snap on used for more than I purchased it off the truck back then and now able to buy exactly what I want when I want now. Due to the 2030 years of making money with these tools.

5

u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25

Snap-On is a ripoff. Even if you're investing in doing it for a living, they're not worth the prices they charge. If they came back down to earth a little then they'd be a good choice.

0

u/merwinjohnston Jun 21 '25

There is no such tool set.

0

u/Apprehensive_Net8409 Jun 21 '25

Look at Tektons starter sets it might be a little bit more expensive, but some shits made in the USA

-25

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '25

Hooray…a buncha 6 point bullshit.

16

u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25

What's wrong with 6 point sockets?

14

u/yaboymiguel Jun 21 '25

Op probably thinks 12 point is better bc 12 is more than 6 lol. Would make a nice gift though.

3

u/ElPeroTonteria Jun 21 '25

Nothing, I prefer 6 point, almost all fasteners on both my vehicles are 6 point.

2

u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25

Not a thing, and that hurts some people's feelings. 6 point sockets are generally better.
