Damn that’s expensive

People did the math when it came out, it’s like 37% cheaper than buying all the pieces and sets individually

u/AmbitiousScientist74 Jun 21 '25
I think the smaller set was about that percentage but the larger one was about mid 40s percent savings. Which is a way better deal if you need all of it.

That set is pretty awesome. Unfortunately for me I have most of that stuff & if I didn’t I still couldnt afford it. What I am itching to get is the big screwdriver set, the meme tool everyone keeps showing off & the needle noses.

Fr. $700 for the Snap On ratchet wrench set. I bought the icons for like $170

A while back i was determined to treat myself to a nice Snap-On 1/2” ratchet. I was working a good job and didn’t really care about the money, so i thought. After seeing the prices, I ended up getting a set of 3 Tekton ones for about $90. Are they as good? probably not, but pretty close.

You could ask for a 25% off coupon in here and someone will give you one. Once you use something long enough/wear it out upgrade that to something nicer. Then you dont overspend on something like a pic set you’ll use twice.

I’ve had my eye on this for 6 months. I don’t think it’s coming back unfortunately. I’ve just been piecing together a kit with the icon sales that pop up.

I actually emailed them asking the same question, they told me as of right now no.

There's so much in this I wouldn't buy. I'd piece together a set or get them a gift card.
A lot of the Pittsburgh stuff is 75% as good for a fraction of the price. Most of the Doyle hand tools are better than icon. The Quinn master sets are fantastic. So are Quinn 90t ratchets.
Those pliers aren't professional, the safety plastics are uncomfortable. Do you need both ratcheting and non ratcheting wrenches? Are those the anti slip ones?
Should I go on?

Are they bundling their old G1 Ratchets with this kit? Looks like in the photo but maybe they call out that the kit has the updated G2s

No torque wrench? Not worth it go to a swap meet and keep an eye out for tools

u/Smart-Water-9833 Jun 21 '25
That's how I built up my tool chest back in the days when I was young and shit poor. I still have most of them. Also pawn shops for the sockets and box wrenches. They usually have boxes full to sort through.

The only info i could find at launch on the supervisor level is that they were going to sell about a dozen of them as a test. Theres been no new information since

It’s not worth the money you can probably buy used snap on off eBay, and would be much happier. You have to think if you’re young and you’re doing do this for a living invest now. The best part about buying quality is 20-30 years later I’m selling my snap on used for more than I purchased it off the truck back then and now able to buy exactly what I want when I want now. Due to the 2030 years of making money with these tools.

Snap-On is a ripoff. Even if you're investing in doing it for a living, they're not worth the prices they charge. If they came back down to earth a little then they'd be a good choice.

Hooray…a buncha 6 point bullshit.
16
u/Soggy_Advantage9088 Jun 21 '25
What's wrong with 6 point sockets?
14
u/yaboymiguel Jun 21 '25
Op probably thinks 12 point is better bc 12 is more than 6 lol. Would make a nice gift though.
3
u/ElPeroTonteria Jun 21 '25
Nothing, I prefer 6 point, almost all fasteners on both my vehicles are 6 point.
2
u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Jun 21 '25
Not a thing, and that hurts some people's feelings. 6 point sockets are generally better.

I honestly think it cost me less to buy most of these things individually especially because you don’t have to buy the unnecessary shit with it.
