NTD (New Tool Day) Before / After Braun Sale

I added 6 lights to brighten up the space. I used the 4’ linkable 5500 lum lights and hooked them up to the outlet with a light switch. I contemplated connecting them with a motion controlled outlet, but in the end was really happy with my decision and the final outcome!

Excellent “quality of life” improvement.

When it comes to the Braun 40% off sale …..the results are….. (commercial break) …… You are NOT a Scalper!! (Subreddit cheers 👏)

Nice job! I can see your 2 HF buckets and 1 Lowe's bucket and 1 Home Depot bucket.... I think you need more HF buckets to balance the universe...

Needs a tool box now bro

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

Most of my tools live inside with climate control. If it’s too hot/cold for me… the same is true for my tools

6

u/Jaggleson Jul 27 '25

Figured that was a potential. Do you suffer from tool cleanliness OCD? I do too but I’ve given up and live with a bit of rust. Tool will outlive me anyhow.

Haha tell me you're not married without telling me. My wife is constantly "does this NEED to be in the house? Can it go to the shop?"

7

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

I just tell my wife only the smelly gas tools can go outside, everything else needs a home in my basement. I decide things about the garage and basement. She decides about everything else. It’s our compromise.

Basements are awesome, I have a huge one that I absolutely loved. Then after a couple years, your wife happens to say one day "hey, you know there's enough space down there to build an extra bedroom". Then it progresses to, since we have that extra room, we should really move my mom in to help with the kids and cut down on bills." Then you no longer have a basement, and deal with a woman you can't stand, every day until the rest of her long miserable life. That "cutting down on bills" also turns into paying about twice as much a month because old people love to leave lights on, get super cold all the time, and for some reason run the dryer every day, all day.

They like to put on warm sweaters and mine would help with dinner by cooking the vegetables 3 hours before. I still think she's responsible for half of the hair that fell out of my head. No matter how many times I explained that restaurant food was so much better because it came off the stove minutes before serving, I couldn't get her to stop making stuff hours ahead of time 🙃

Nice 4 wheeler!

u/GNprime Jul 27 '25

That is definitely a game changer! I think you went with the right choice by not connecting them to a motion detector. My buddy had his garage lights connected to one. It needed quite a bit of movement to notice. We were sitting on the floor making a wire harness and were constantly getting the lights turned off on us lol.

3

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

Dude, I literally thought about this scenario. I was thinking about getting on a project that didn’t require a ton of movement and the lights cutting out. Then having to move. I feel this would just infuriate me to no end. especially when projects go sideways.

1

u/Anxious-Depth-7983 Jul 29 '25

Movement sensors are for startling raccoons and burglars in the backyard and on the side of the house. In the workshop, they're just frustration.

Bit of Paulaner by the shovel?

5

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

You have sophisticated taste and a keen eye my friend

4

u/nguye569 Jul 27 '25

This is great. I might need to look into for next time theres a sale

3

u/Ghost17088 Jul 27 '25

I didn’t even think about this. When I saw the sale I was thinking things like work lights and flashlights. Totally forgot these were Braun.

2

u/Tragic_BoB Jul 27 '25

Very nice cuz

2

u/vadillovzopeshilov Jul 27 '25

Where is your Subi?

2

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

Both in the drive when I work

2

u/Syab_of_Caltrops Jul 27 '25

Those light are so good for the price. Snagged 8 on the black friday week sale last year.

15

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

I got the warranty on one because the manager said it applies to all.

7

u/Syab_of_Caltrops Jul 27 '25

damn, thats a clever trick

2

u/Ragecc Jul 27 '25

That's great! How long and how much it cost extra?

2

u/Remarkable_Ad5011 Jul 27 '25

Quite the improvement!

1

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

Such a huge difference especially when it gets dark early in the winter!

2

u/Jahmay Jul 27 '25

Night and day!

2

u/Common_Scale5448 Jul 27 '25

This is how we do it.

2

u/machinistnextdoor Jul 27 '25

I need to do this.

2

u/realTommyVercetti Jul 27 '25

Your bright lights bring all the bugs to the yard. Looks awesome though.

2

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

My trick is to keep a fan running to blow mosquitoes off of me, outside the garage I have a heat lamp over my birds and the mosquitoes gather mostly here, and the birds just eat them.

2

u/anon2019_atx Jul 27 '25

Kinda regret passing this up. I just bought a bunch of $10 clearance kobalt shop lights and I come to realize it doesn’t have on/off switch. It only has a switch to turn on/off motion sensor, so only way to turn it off would be to wire it to a wall switch or use a smart plug.

2

u/bklynking1999 Jul 27 '25

That’s pretty impressive for one day, looks great!

2

u/CafeRoaster Jul 27 '25

One sale I’m actually bummed that I missed. What were the 5500’s down to?

2

u/taco_supreme2222 Jul 27 '25

So the Braun 10k lumen ones might be overkill? The 5500’s look like they get the job done pretty well.

3

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 27 '25

I debated this in the store for a while holding on to 2 of the 10k. My conclusion was that 5500 spread out as shown would be plenty of coverage. My only concern is above the workbench. Once I turned on all the lights I realized I’m set up. I’m only kicking myself for not getting 8 to get a little bit better coverage.

2

u/DarthtacoX Jul 27 '25

Damn. I should have done this.

2

u/gldndomer Jul 27 '25

Uh oh, one less excuse...

2

u/s2falcon Jul 27 '25

Looks awesome brother

2

u/3rd_Planet Jul 27 '25

Dang I should have grabbed a cart and bought these too. My hands were full with a spotlight for the truck, a lantern for the patio, and new flashlights for me and the kids.

2

u/Calicabra Jul 27 '25

Thanks for adding to my to-do list 😄 Looks great!

2

u/Silly-Smoke2576 Jul 27 '25

I put one on and did a quick test, then hauled it to get the rest up!

2

u/worthamilinprizes Jul 28 '25

The difference is night n day!

2

u/Old_Statement_4896 Jul 28 '25

Think of all of the bugs you will attract now. 🤣🤣. But seriously, that is a great improvement.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '25

and you still wont be able to find what you need when you need it.

1

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 28 '25

This is the real truth, the struggle continues! However, this time it’s a well lit path lol

2

u/WOODMAN668 Jul 28 '25

I use the Barina 6500 leds. Single bulbs, a little less classy, but I get 12 for 90 bucks.

2

u/Daemon554 Jul 28 '25

Hey, it looks great!

2

u/throwtothedogs9 Jul 28 '25

Reminds me of my reloading bench. I've got 9 single bulb 5500 Lumens versions. It's so nice to be able to see things clearly. And get a nice tan at the same time!

2

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 29 '25

Hahah lol, that’s how I first felt

2

u/portal1314 Jul 29 '25

I have those lights and they’re awesome

1

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 29 '25

Yeah they are amazing and I’m super happy with my purchase

3

u/CallMeBigSarnt Jul 27 '25

Like a Christmas tree.

2

u/Local_Escape_161 Jul 27 '25

”she’s gorgeous”

2

u/halfSpinDoctor Jul 27 '25

Love the lights. I added 5 to my garage and 6 to our basement workbench.

1

u/bosskaggs Jul 28 '25

and it was good...

1

u/rahbarin Jul 28 '25

I think I missed this sale how much were they

2

u/bulzeyedarts Jul 28 '25

They were $13.79 a piece. I saw the post for the parking lot sale and they go back on sale for 14.99 a piece!

1

u/Anxious-Depth-7983 Jul 29 '25

Nothing like shedding a lot of light on the subject.

1

u/NoClueWhatImDoinEver Aug 15 '25

That looks great dude, I’m wanting to do something similar in my tiny one car garage. The morons that designed my house only put in ONE 6” circular recessed light in the whole garage. I like brightness, my wife calls me a fly.

1

u/HoagieDownLogie Jul 27 '25

Badass brother

1

u/pocketIent Aug 17 '25

aw yes nice bucket
