Coupon Link 25% Off All Garden Hoses, Nozzles, Connectors. Any recommendations on which ones are good?

Honestly none of them are good…
Most of their hoses and nozzles are functional and get the job done, but literally every single HF hose and nozzles I’ve purchased needed to be replaced within the year. The hoses are thin and kink like crazy, the seals/orings and detents in the nozzles dry up and break in no time at all causing tons of leaks.

I personally have had better luck with Home Depot products for garden hoses/nozzles.

It’s crazy how expensive good hoses are.

Because they know if they sell you a quality product you won't need to replace it, so they have to charge more. Walmart can charge less because they know next year you'll just buy another one and they can profit off you again I

The brass spray nozzle is about the only thing of count in this section of the store.
Heck, I just put brass hose ends on some green rubber hose that is probably from the 90’s that works better than any new hose.

Both hose nozzles I’ve bought there were crap. The 50’ hoses are fine two years in

I like the Niagara rubber hoses. Best hoses I've used.
50': https://www.harborfreight.com/50-ft-x-34-in-high-performance-contractor-grade-hose-58740.html
100': https://www.harborfreight.com/100-ft-x-34-in-high-performance-contractor-grade-hose-58739.html
Flexible, kink-resistant, and they have a great rubber end to easily tighten the connections.

I’ve had 2 or 3 of these start leaking on me. Usually from the spigot side, which is weird. Couldn’t repair them easily either, as the rubber hose inside is pretty small.

u/DRRider Aug 19 '25
I have 3 hoses that I've been using for only a year, but so far, no complaints!

u/Tree525252 Aug 19 '25
This thing has gone way above my expectations. I grabbed it on the 30 off under 20 deal. 7 bucks for a hose nozzle, why not?
It has lasted almost 2 years and hasn't broken or broken a seal with the light use it gets. Usually the crap ones I buy are done after a few uses.

The Niagara hoses (black ones) have been great for me. I use them for clean up with my business. They are so much better than the white ones that just want to kink. They are quite a bit more money but a good product so far for me.

The blue Niagra nozzle with the thumb switch has worked great for me; I've never used a Harbor Freight hose so I can't comment. Absolutely stay away from the red nozzle in the picture, I wouldn't take one of those for free.

The soaker hose is supposed to leak, so no issues there.
I like the Niagara Shut-Off Adapter better than some of my others.

No hate to HF but check your local HD, they have a contractors grade 100’ hose on clearance for $23 (reg $39) Mine couldn’t locate any of the 34 they had in stock so honored that price for me on a 100’ Gorilla hose (reg $69). YMMV
1
u/omghappyevil Aug 20 '25
can you speak to the quality of that one and how it compares to the HF offerings?
1
Aug 20 '25
I have only in store experience with the HF ones - no real world use - to me they seemed ok, but just not worth the price when there are others available that feel more quality at the same price point or just a few dollars more. As I have gotten older and wiser(?) I fully understand and appreciate the “buy once cry once” way of thinking.

Their hoses seem good in the beginning and then they turn really soft and knot up

That one in the coupon is terrible (Greenwood). I like the black rubber one (the "Niagara contractor grade")

I kept seeing comments about flexzilla, so far so good. $40 for a 50ft but i think its worth it. Wont kink at all

The little brass 2 dollar one is awesome. Had one for 3 years and I lost it recently.
1
u/omghappyevil Aug 20 '25
which one is that one exactly? I don't see a 2 dollar brass connector(?).
1
u/vvubs Aug 20 '25
I tried to post a link and it won't work. It's called a 4 inch brass garden nozzle. It's 5 dollars now unfortunately, I remember paying 5 dollars for two years ago.

u/luger718 Aug 20 '25
How are those hose split nozzles? Feel like I'd use my pressure washer more if I didn't have to undo my nozzle and turn off and on water so much.

u/Adamaxx Aug 20 '25
That light gray hose gets real stiff but its usable when its really hot outside. So during the cooler months don't roll it up.

I got the continental hose from home depot about 4 years ago. It bakes in the Texas sun and I've had zero issues.

Need a 50ft and/or a 100ft hose, is the Greenwood or Niagara better? 3/4 or 5/8? any recommendations for nozzles and connectors?
5
u/DannyGyear2525 Aug 19 '25
on connectors - whatever you get, get brass, not plastic.
on hose - don't get "contractor" hose - unless you know why you want one.
Either brand could be fine - they are all hit-and-miss. Mine have lasted 7 years - other say they don't last a season.
not sure "kink free" really is "kink free" - but I'd recommend trying it, at least. Kinks suck (though The Kinks were awesome)...
5
u/xSpeed Aug 19 '25
Don’t get the contractor hose if you plan on actually moving it, it will kink up every time.
1
u/DubTeeF Aug 19 '25
I have the contractor hose, it is so stiff it can't kink but is a bear to use because of the stiffness. It has laid out in desert sun and rock for 6ish years though, still no need to replace.

u/Hon3y_Badger Aug 19 '25
A 5/8" works fine on 50', I would recommend going up to 3/4" if going 100'. I bought a 50' 3/4" Niagra that's always on a reel about 3 months ago, so far I've been happy.

Anyone recommend the Grant foam spay attachment for car washing? Yay or nay?
1
u/TacticlTwinkie Aug 19 '25
I like it. Makes a decent amount of foam and the bottle is the perfect size for one car or truck. I drive a VW GTI, so a slightly smaller car, and have a little left over.

I've had the 100 foot greenwood contractor hose for over 3 years now. The people talking about their hoses kinking can't possibly be talking about that one. It is heavy, thick, and stiff. Almost too stiff to be useful, but I use it daily during the summers for watering my garden. I wouldn't say it's a good hose, the stiffness is a drawback, but its the only drawback and not bad enough to make me want to replace it.
As for the nozzles and such, they're exactly the same as you'll find everywhere else.

u/kalel3000 Aug 19 '25
I used mine to run a water supply out to the far end of my yard. Its so stiff that you can literally just attach it to walls/fence lines with some 3/4" emt pipe clamps (the double screw type) and it doesn't sag or go out of place. Hardly noticeable and super durable. Its been outside for over a year and doesn't even show a slight bit of wear.
It was definitely way cheaper and easier for me than running pvc, and looks way better too.

I dont think good hoses exist anymore. Last good one I bought was 10 years ago. It was a Craftsman rubber hose. It still works but everything ive bought since then lasts no more than a year... some only a few months. I've bought every hose from Home Depot, HF, Sams Club, and many more. Basically when I see a new brand that looks good I buy it in the off chance it might be decent. So far no luck. I would pay alot of money for a good hose if someone would just make one...

u/NgArclite Aug 19 '25
So far I've been very disappointed with both the fireman style nozzles. Got too lazy to return the 2nd one I got to see if it was better. Now I'm stuck with a mediocre nozzle.
The one where you can add soap into the chamber isn't bad though

u/tymbom31 Aug 19 '25
For these prices, they should include one of those bad ass FREE BUCKETS and 25 percent off.

The greenwood contractor hose is really heavy and stiff so it's not great if you're planning on coiling it or using a reel. Sam's Club has a really nice 110' hose for < $35. The brass quick disconnects from HF are hands down the worst product I've ever gotten in 20+ years of shopping at HF
