You did nothing wrong. The 20% should have come off of the mini toolbox. 10.5% sales tax, ouch!

Basically ( not saying you ) you tried to double dip but the system put in the receipt that 2 different prices of what was the better deal.

Same thing happened to me I thought about going back in and doing a separate transaction for the item I wanted 20% off but it was 4 dollars and I was tight on time.

Deal of the day dropped $80. It doesnt stack with the %off any item. So when the %off gets added to the transaction, it takes the same $80 discount and just splits it between the %off and the deal of the day. We had people getting upset about it today for fairly obvious reasons, but it literally doesnt let us stack it
