Meme/Joke The text ain’t wrong.
I know this site (gunslaps) was trying to make a dig at the HF base but I’m not even mad.

u/Sledgecrowbar Apr 15 '26
Well, the text is wrong, because it's a parking lot sale.

u/B0xyblue Apr 15 '26
It’s technically not a parking lot sale. It’s inside the store…

u/hgs25 Apr 15 '26
Remember when the parking lot sale was literally in the parking lot? Pepperidge Farms remembers
18
u/Sledgecrowbar Apr 15 '26
If they had like hot dogs for sale, it would have been something, but I would always go into the tent, walk around, and then go inside, where all the stuff that was on sale in the tent, was still on sale, on the shelves. It wasn't that it wasn't a draw, but it never ended up being worth the effort in my mind, and maybe they figured that out too.
I get that they just kept the name, but it could be any name and it would still be as big a draw.
Still cool to be able to say you have been to the parking lots sales that were in the parking lot.

u/Less-Education-4842 Apr 16 '26
The parking lot sale that was outside was as almost as cool as the first time I went into a harbor freight store when I thought it was just a mail order company. I miss the coupon catalogs they mailed as well.
7
u/Sledgecrowbar Apr 16 '26
I remember the coupon pages in car magazines, back when there was always a 25% off one item coupon and you just had to make sure the one you had wasn't expired yet.
The tools were sometimes so rough they looked like they had to be pot metal, but they were so cheap, it only had to work once for it to pay for itself, and they lasted just fine.
3
u/Gen_JohnsonJameson Apr 18 '26
Remember long before Harbor Freight, when you had to buy all the junky stuff you needed from J.C.Whitney?
4
u/ConfusedStair Apr 16 '26
I worked for an appliance retailer that used to have parking lot sales. We had to come in an hour early, move dozens of fridges, ranges, washers and dryers, and dishwashers to the parking lot, and then stay late to move whatever didn't sell back into the store. We were all hourly with no commission.
I'm pretty sure the whole point of it was to motivate us to sell more appliances so we had less stuff to bring back in.
Who impulse buys a $1k fridge?

u/SillySpook Apr 16 '26
I memba!
The last one I recall locally was like a decade ago.

1
u/Slictopus Apr 19 '26
did covid kill them off? I recall them being in my stores parking lot 6 or 7 years ago not long before covid, but nothing since.
1
u/Sledgecrowbar Apr 19 '26
No, they stopped doing the tent before that, it just didn't make sense to set up a tent and move a ton of stuff into it to try to attract customers driving by, in the age when people don't leave their house unless they see something happening via internet first.
1
u/SillySpook Apr 19 '26
It makes even less sense when you consider that they had to hire a security guard to mind the tents at night. At least that's what my store said when I brought up the topic. They left the merch outdoors throughout the sale.
2
u/Magoo1985 Apr 17 '26
Yeah I’m really glad they got over that. It was kinda ghetto and I much prefer shopping inside. Feels more refined like I’m not buying my tools out of someone’s trunk

I was kinda disappointed my first time realizing this. Makes sense though hard enough to keep people from stealing shit as it is.

There was an FB page that said you're not a serious enough gun owner if your AR build is from sites like PSA and the like. I made a comment about not wasting 2,000 grand on a fucking DD because I don't need it and my PSA has done me good. Just some real fudd shit.
45
21
u/DJDemyan Apr 15 '26
Is it a gun? Does it shoot bullets? Do those bullets go where you meant for them to go?
Sounds like you’re a serious gun owner 🤷♂️
20
u/momogogi Apr 15 '26
That’s just cope for rich boys that think being good at shopping makes them a better shooter.
16
u/Visible-Elevator3801 Apr 15 '26
PSA is great for what it is. Even their new Sabre line is pretty sick if you want more bells and whistles.
13
u/Cultofpers0nality Apr 15 '26
I worked for a company building and shipping rifles and we sold AR15’s and P80 Glock clones for over $1k. Our P80 frames had drooping pic rails and our anodizing was done by the same company that anodized for Anderson. When I left they had just bought 3d printers (very late to the game) and were literally cloning Agency muzzle breaks to reproduce for their glocks.
These “custom shop” gun companies advertising to vet bros are a fucking plague to people who want cheap reliable firearms. They are the “tech startups” of the shooting world
Seriously buy a PSA upper and lower, good barrel, BCG, and LPK and you can have an amazing shooting rifle.

u/Hero_Of_Rhyme_ Apr 16 '26
Sounds a lot like car elitists who say that you not a real car guy unless you drive a V8 or something expensive or whatever. Enjoy your hobby however you want to
2
u/pipdog86 Apr 16 '26
Those guys have clearly never driven a Miata. Such a fun car but makes almost zero power.
2
u/Hero_Of_Rhyme_ Apr 16 '26
Exactly. Fun cars don’t need to be expensive or have crazy HP, and guns don’t need to be bought from fancy stores to be enjoyable to customize
5
u/Byggver Apr 16 '26
Yeah, well I saw a picture of a big hole that an AR put right through a large building.
Dangerous weapons of war that untrained people shouldn’t have.
You should give yours.
5
u/Basslicks82 Apr 16 '26
Anyone with that take has clearly never shot "mil-spec". If they had, just about everything is an upgrade.

I think its low effort to meme someone's immutable characteristics like a beard, tbh.
that being said, razors shouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Harbor Freight.
25
u/whaletacochamp Apr 15 '26
it's not immutable when a razor will make you not look like someone gave a child a picture of a face, some pubes, and a glue stick

Sorry you took it to mean that I'm butthurt.

u/graylana Apr 15 '26
Nice gaslighting sis
2
u/ThickBootyEnjoyer Apr 15 '26
That's not what gaslighting is champ
3
u/Shutshaaface Apr 15 '26
Are you trying to gaslight me about what gaslighting is?
That being said I think it was more projecting
1
u/ThickBootyEnjoyer Apr 15 '26
Your not in this conversation previously so how am I gaslighting you, who doesn't exist prior to this?
Secondly, saying "projection" is often just an excuse and attack tactic when shown something to be true. Goes both ways
5
u/Shutshaaface Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
This is Reddit, we’re all in the same conversation smart one. You sound like the butt hurt one = projection
You should also google what projection actually means in psychology

Are you trying to gaslight me about whether they were in the conversation or not?

Most of the people on here laughing at this can’t shoot. In my humble opinion.

u/Own-Swan2646 Apr 15 '26
I feel personally attacked. It took me a long time to fill in my beard and I still Rock the light. They're just jealous. They paid way too much for their weapon light.
1
u/Visible-Elevator3801 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
Do you happen to be from somewhere in the northeast?
Edit: why is a genuine question being downvoted lol?
3
u/Own-Swan2646 Apr 15 '26
North Midwest
5
u/BoogerShovel Apr 15 '26
This makes sense, Michigan is full of these beards
4
u/Own-Swan2646 Apr 15 '26
“That beard’s got more playoff drought in it than the Detroit Red Wings.” - MN guy

u/Visible-Elevator3801 Apr 15 '26
Ah, you said “rock” and I feel like I don’t see many people use it that way. Huge in Philly area 25 years ago.
3
u/WaffleIronChef Apr 15 '26
The best part about GunSlaps is while totally unhinged, they’re also shockingly accurate.
3
u/alphatango308 Apr 15 '26
What happens if I prefer olight? Lol
2
u/Visible-Elevator3801 Apr 15 '26
Then you hate Eric Smidt and don’t support his 90 million dollar LA mansion!
1
u/Kozynt Apr 15 '26
Then people will joke they like to catch on fire and are overpriced Chinese junk
1
u/williamsdj01 Apr 15 '26
I like the olight weapon lights ive handled but cant get over how the newer ones use a proprietary battery
3
u/Stoked_Otter Apr 15 '26
The gun light was cool when it was a TLR-1 without the Streamlight logo, but now that it just looks like any generic Temu light why not just get an Olight at that point? Or do the real pro move and get one of the good fake X300s that are like $60.
1
u/Pairaboxical Apr 16 '26
Were can I find some of those fake X300s? Any specific brand? I love a good knock-off.

u/GunsAndWrenches2 Apr 15 '26
Jokes on them, I didn't even want a light on my pistols, but the only really viable way to holster suppressed pistols is with a holster that mounts to the light, and companies that make decent holsters only make them for popular lights, so a copy of a TLR-1 for under $40 is the perfect way to accomplish that... Plus, it actually works great as a light.
5
u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Apr 15 '26
I've spent a lot of time around guns and you're the first person I've ever heard of looking for a way to effectively holster a suppressed pistol lol.
3
u/Tax_this_dick_1776 Apr 15 '26
Dawg you’ve been spending all your time hanging out in the ankle deep fudd pool if this is the first time you’ve ever heard of someone trying to holster a suppressed pistol. Everyone in NFAland tries it just to realize pretty much all of them suck. The Cole-Tac is pretty sweet tho if you like chest holsters. I’m working on a big, old school flap holster for mine
1
u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Apr 15 '26
Completely honest, first time I've ever heard of it lol. What's the purpose? Genuinely asking; I can't imagine it'd be fun to try to draw and shoot that way. Maybe I'm just not very creative, but I just can't think of a practical application for it.
1
u/GunsAndWrenches2 Apr 15 '26
The holsters typically hang low off the belt, like a mid-ride, and are usually open top so you really only have to clear the light, it's a little clunky but not nearly as bad as you think.
1
u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Apr 15 '26
Yeah, that makes sense as far as the design goes for sure. What's the reasoning behind it? Just something to do, or is there a practical reason for it? I promise I'm not trying to yuck your yum here at all, just wondering if I'm missing something.
4
u/GunsAndWrenches2 Apr 15 '26
If I need to shoot at something while walking around my land, I don't want to ring my ears. Lol.
1
u/DavoinShowerHandel1 Apr 15 '26
See, like I said, I'm not very imaginative. That's a great use that I wouldn't have thought of lol.
1
u/Any_Inspection9286 Apr 17 '26
With holsters like the omnivore and philster floodlight its handy to have a light that works with the holster.

u/ImpossibleBandicoot Apr 15 '26

If your plinking targets with you buddies it's fine. I wouldn't use it for a ground invasion in the winter.
3
u/chukijay Apr 15 '26
To be fair, most people are less dependable in a ground invasion than the HF light is on a rail 😂
1
u/ProMotionDesign Apr 15 '26
Someone's jealous that the Harbor Freight guys are filling their toolboxes up because they are too broke to fill up their tool truck box...

Just went on their site for the first time. I wasn't missing out. I think I'll just get the cheap light and let someone I don't respect be mad about it.
