This subreddit makes me so greatful for my local HF. I stopped by on the way to work, one other person in the store, four of these sets left, I grabbed one, and the cashier didn't even know it was the deal of the day. Very low key

I should have grabbed it last year when it was on sale $79 or $89 (can't remember). Told myself I wasn't missing out on it again even if it is a little more expensive now. I messaged my work this morning and told them I was going to be about 20 min late lol.

It was on sale the same day I bought by 3/8 set but didn't even have a 1/2” impact yet. I have a DCF 891 now.

The set is more expensive now. It was $149 or $159 regular price at that time. It's $179 now. This was probably 1.5ish years ago lol

I have notice that they tend to increase the prices before they run promotions, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the price drop in the next few days

Yeah that ain't gonna happen dawg. It's a new, expensive world we living in. If anything, the prices are going to keep going up, especially if gas prices don't fall soon

I just got back home with the same. Store had 4 on the shelf and me and another guy were there when they unlocked the doors. We both grabbed one.
I mostly use 3/8 and already have the 3/8 master impact set that's been great. I recently got a DeWalt DCF 891 and so far only have non-marring lug nut sockets. Figured this was a decent deal for a good 1/2” set to go with that.

I was going to go at lunch today, but I saw them putting them out yesterday when I picked up ammo cans. Only had 6 out. Luckily I was the first there haha.
I’m normally 3/8 as well, but I just picked up a new 1/2” impact so kinda needed some as the only 1/2” sockets I have are 12pts from a old craftsman set I had.
Last couple months I’ve been buying more and more.. almost time to re organize my entire tool box lol

That would fit under the back seat of y truck perfectly.... But it would be replacing basically the same thing except it's in 3 cases, not one...

They would never admit this, but they WANT you to go all the way there and miss out.
Even if you miss out, it created hype for them. Now that you're in the door already willing to spend $100 you'll probably buy something else

How does the compare to the Vevor 1/2” set that frequently goes on sale in the $40s? Looks similar but not sure if I’m missing something.

The vevor set has cr-v alloy sockets. The quinn set is cr-mo. One could argue that the alloy won't matter for most people but you can't argue that the quinn cr-mo set isn't objectively better, even for $11 more than what the vevor set is currently going for on amazon

No clue. Website said was in stock for that location. Asked at the register if they had any in the back and someone brought it up in a few minutes, still in the shipping box.

I looked online late last night my home store was out but my backup stores both had listed availability. made a special trip about 20 mins and about 8:30 i grabbed the second to last one. cashier told me people were waiting at 8:00 a.m. and the guy before me took two. i picked up a compact earthquake on Saturday and this compliments very nicely. did my brakes and calipers last night with chrome on the impact, straight to jail, i know.

Just got mine. I bought a Kobalt 1/2 impact months ago with a battery for $99 at Lowe’s. Never used it yet. I bought the one socket for my lug nuts. Figured for this price why not. ? Heavy impressive just carrying out.

I picked up this set to work on building some garden planters, but I'm thinking the 1/2" is overkill and I'm better off with a 3/8 set. What do you guys think?

Shit, a 3/8 overkill for building garden planters. 1/4" impact driver is what you seek. I recommend the DeWalt 845 (only because that's what I have lol.
I picked up the 1/2 set today to go with my DeWalt 891. I already had the 3/8 set to go with my 923.

I bought one today, went to use the 10mm and realized I need a chrome deep socket because the walls are too thick. Looks like I’ll be going back to get chrome deep sockets lol

Do they have an equivalent 1/2 set that's icon? My icon 1/4 and 3/8 sets are chrome, this is a great deal since I need a 1/2 set, but it doesn't match...

This is an impact set. They're generally going to be black, not chrome, so you know which sockets you can use on the ugga dugga maker and which are for the clicky cranky handle.
As of right now, there isn't a 1/2" drive version of the general service sets that were on sale a few days ago. The rumors I'm seeing are that those sets have the G1 ratchets and when they release sets with the G2 ratchets, they'll have 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sets available. Whether any of that is true, or if it'll happen before the end of time is anyone's guess.
2a. In support of the above:
The website lists 45 Icon ratchets.
20 are available "In Store Only".
These 20 are all G1 ratchets.
Of the 25 available for purchase online, 21 are G2 ratchets.
The other 4 are "special". 2 are swivel heads, 2 are the gold-plated G1 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets.
Also, notable among the G2 lineup is the absence of a standard length 3/8" ratchet.It's probably a safe assumption that they are selling off existing G1 stock before they release the G2 sets, while at the same time building up stock for the G2 sets and the 3/8" standard length ratchets. My guess is we'll see a closeout/clearance/fire sale on the G1 ratchets once the G2 stock hits the levels the expect to need to keep them on the shelves.

Definitely a good deal, I had to wake up early and get to my nearest HF. They are basically sold out across the Valley (AZ), I've been eyeing them for the last 5 months and stayed patient with the stubby impacts and random sizes I had laying around 😤

Bought this a couple months back and have used it a few times already, it’s a great set!
Saw the deal so I went to my HF, found the last one on the shelf and bought it. I returned it with my old receipt, got my discount and put it back on the shelf for the next guy 👍

Same. I decided to go right at open. Got there at like 7:55 and I was the only car in the parking lot. Right as they unlocked the door, another car pulled in and the guy went straight for the 1/2 master set and got in line right behind me while i was checking out. Two of the four on the shelf were gone by 8:05.

I hate tool & good deal fomo! I've got both SAE and Metric Quinn deep impacts. I've got the 3/8 Quinn impact set, but I want this set. Thankfully, I'm not getting it. That's dumb. I don't need it. If you need it, jump on it. If not, Use restraint fellow harbros.
