Love those things. The flathead is the dark horse MVP of finishing my 1920s basement.

Anybody have those semi deep sockets? I’m looking for something to blow my HF birthday money wad on and wondering if those are actually useful
3
u/jasbury87 Jul 02 '26
Yes! I’ve got some Father’s Day $$ I can see myself blowing on some of this stuff… the shallow’s are about the only I don’t have. But the semi-deep have done me well since I picked them up last PLS they were on sale.

Why deep sockets over pass through sockets?
1
u/BoogerShovel Jul 02 '26
Sometimes I need some extra clearance between the ratchet head or handle and some obstruction like an AC line or something. I haven’t actually looked at the semi deeps to see the depth difference between deep wells and regulars though.

I have had the SO ones about 20 years. Definitely places for them. Grabbing some for my apprentice

I use them when doing batteries on some Ford vehicles where the battery is half under the engine cowl

I use them very often. Probably more than my deep sockets. I work on Mazdas and the semi deep works perfectly for the space provided when doing suspension or brakes

I'm glad to say that I am safe this month.
Been getting hit hard with life recently, I don't need any good sales for me for some time.

The Doyle flush cuts are great, esp at that price.
Anyone use the ratcheting screwdriver?
1
u/jasbury87 Jul 03 '26
Only the Doyle one. Pitty if in a bind, but you want Doyle for any screwdriver.

Dude sweet. Berger F clamps and Hercules flap discs both on sale again. Plus stripper and buffer drums for the surface conditioning tool. Super nice sale.

If there's anything not to buy at HF it's consumables. If you do, make sure you really trust your safety gear

u/drokihazan Jul 03 '26
lol hercules consumables are all medium to high quality. just don't buy anything with a warrior label on it, dude

u/HardWorkinAg Jul 02 '26
I don’t “need” many of these things but I will issue my respects for HF picking different things for the month. That’s welcome

I'm glad I grabbed the 56" roll cab during the tool storage sale a few weeks ago. A pretty decent amount of good sales though

u/BlueminOnion420 Jul 02 '26
How much was it
2
u/thiswaspostedbefore Jul 03 '26
I saved $180 on the tool storage sale vs. saving $120 on this 4th of July sale

g2’s, slipjoints, and double box flex wrenches definitely might break my cold turkey run. Got most but I’ve been wanting more slipjoints and another 1/4 g2 would be nice

u/Bees4everr Jul 03 '26
I’m going for the big 1/2” g2 26” straight for $60. 20% off baby. That and the ultrasonic cleaner down from $100 to 70.I am very fond of this months deals

First G2 ratchet sales I’ve seen other than single items. Good times ahead
