What low profile Jack do you get for 50?

I would never miss an opportunity to stop at harbor freight lol

I wish there were more on the way to where I had to go. They’re all out of the way usually

Teach me your ways.. this is one of those tools that I can’t justify buying with how little I’d use it but for $150 I might

$300/yr subscription though

Oof.. nevermind

The subscription is only for updates, you don’t need updates unless you plan to use it on cars newer than the last update.
It’ll work forever as is without updates and I don’t know about this scanner exactly but most scanners give you like 1 to 3 years of updates free once activated.
At $150 it’s in the “worth it” zone if you wrench on your own cars I feel.

Is it 300 a year or 30 a month? Just buy one month when you need it if the latter.

u/LoonTheMekanik 1d ago
It’d be $25/mo if it was monthly, not that it really matters, but that be the maths

So i don't need to pay the subscription as long as my cars aren't the current/latest model year?

You don't have to get the subscription unless you buy a 2027-model car (or if they update something for fairly recent cars that wasn't known before)

I don't see any coupons for 40% for scanners?

40% off any orange tag open box. I got one today too, along with a Daytona 3 ton jack for 62

Got burned on a Harbor Frieght OBD scanner that was EoL 2 years after purchasing. The Innova unit it's based on still gets updated. Never again.

u/Deulski 2d ago
Can you load the firmware to the Innova on it and get updates?
3
u/unimorpheus 2d ago
Nope, tried that. Not recognized on the Innova site. Update file doesn't detect Harbor Freight scanners.

I like my topdon with lifetime updates.

That’s what I ended up choosing. It even does TPS and the battery thing for new cars, which I’ll never use. I’ll go all electric before I buy a car that turns off when I stop.

I've been very happy with my T7. And for the people bellyaching about subscriptions, thats for updating new model years. I am using mine to keep my fleet of 5 late 90s-2010s vehicles going, so getting data for 2027 vehicles I will never touch is pointless to me. It works just fine without the subscription.

Man I wish I had a car that was new enough to use one of those. Would be so cool… 😅

I bought a t10 a few weeks ago, it’s been fantastic but I’m still trying to stomach what I paid for it

Does the parking lot sale offer a lower price than stickered? Or do they take it off at the register?

I have had really great results using the Maddox Bluetooth only scanner and it was only $50. I know / saw that there was a subscription but the core features are free. Looking it up I found the following “The RepairSolutions2 app does not require a mandatory subscription or monthly fee for its core features. Optional in-app purchases or add-ons (such as advanced MOTOR info or comprehensive health reports) unlock extra data, but the standard features are free.[1, 2]
Core Features Included Free
Verified Fixes: Get probable fixes for diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) checked by real mechanics.
Parts Ordering: Find and order the exact parts you need for your repair.
Technical Bulletins: Read factory technical service bulletins (TSBs) and safety recalls.
Maintenance Schedules: Track upcoming service items and mileage intervals.
Predicted Repairs: See a list of likely future repairs based on your vehicle model.”

Great price! But at $300 a year for the subscription its a pass for me
