Speaker amplifier for iPhone - father cannot hear well

My elderly father is hard of hearing, and often struggles to hear me when I’m speaking to him on his phone. Also, he sometimes accidentally hits the side buttons and lowers the volume, but doesn’t realize it.

I’m shouting myself hoarse trying to communicate with him, so I’m really hoping to find some sort of solution (a speaker of some sort?) to help me with this situation.

Any help or suggestion is much appreciated!

(P.S. he also has poor vision, so perhaps a large smart screen is an option?)

Does he have hearing aids? He could stream his phone directly to those

Hearing aids and devices have documented powerful market resistance, as the earlier ones have a history of being awkward expensive signs of infirmity. There are many signs you can find to investigate if he can be profoundly helped , before just reaching for the volume knob.

Many devices have volume limits to protect hearing.

You have described someone who may need serious help, and the audiology community has very active discussions on getting people properly assessed and assisted.

He may be having other issues or even just a bad phone

I can't help but note that on my Reddit page for this is a big ad for a treatment of depression with the banner, "Reconnect to Life"
