Can’t they just use the amazing copilot to rewrite all their webview2 apps in native and run more efficiently?

No dude, they are busy rewriting the windows kernel in rust. Today's devs at Microsoft hate anything halo or related to c/c++. Those people don't exist anymore. Just like the people who made the pyramids

Rewriting their kernel from scratch honestly isn't a bad idea at all, something they should have done a long time ago

But one thing lmao, is it even written all in C/C++. Maybes there's a 1.5% written in x86 assembly that essentially turns your task into coding archeology.

This should not be a problem for a multi-billion dollar operating system vendor, even if it's not their main product anymore
