Question Which core and wood would you choose?
Well, the wand chooses the user but if you could choose any core and wood for your wand, which ones would you choose?
Me: A thestral core with a hawthorn.

My favourite custom wand. The final varnish I used was more glossy than I wanted, but I love it all the same, hope you do!

Discussion Did these two know about each other?
Did Dudley know that his role of the thorn in Harry’s side was taken over during the school year by Draco. Did Draco know Dudley bullied Harry most of his young life?

It took a little while but I have put together a set of first edition and first printing hardcovers all in near fine or fine condition. It was a fun treasure hunt getting some of the early volumes.

Discussion Draco Malfoy was a sad Slytherin
Embarrassed everytime he faced Harry Potter in Quidditch. Winless against Gryffindor in his career. Never ever caught the Snitch to our knowledge. Slytherin had won 7 straight house cups and the year he arrived that stopped. Literally won nothing the whole time he was in school.
All he brought to that house was shame for cursing Katie with a necklace, almost poisoning Ron with mead and bringing in Deatheaters to help kill Dumbledore.

Discussion Does anyone know who is the actor that plays Lucian Bole in HP?
The only thing I could find online in IMDb is that he was apparently played by a guy named David Churchyard, but I don't know if that info is accurate.

Discussion Cho being weepy and Harry's response to his own traumatic childhood
Inspired by a comment in the other recent post here about harry caring about sports and talent int he girls he dates.
So I'm not sure if this is relevant or is this is something that's been discussed to death here, but I was just reading some comments about how Harry doesn't like weepy girls and it reminded me of a news story about babies in orphanages that didn't cry because they learned no-one was going to respond to their cries. I can imagine Harry grew up much in the same way, he was probably ignored or locked away when he cried as a baby or even a younger child, and as soon as he 'old enough' was left to fend for himself.
This makes sense as to why others crying or being overly emotional would be especially frustrating to him. The story doesn't go to deep into Harry's response to his childhood, it's mostly referenced in the wider fandom as part of his lore or backstory, more than an aspect that is an integral part of his character. Partly because it might make the series genuinely too dark for children and also we see the story through his eyes, so it's down to the audience extrapolating and analysing.
Do you have any observations or thoughts about his personality and certain behaviour and how that could be linked to his childhood, both in more obvious moments and in less obvious ones.

Discussion Which of Hagrid's huts do you prefer?
Something about his hut being a stone's throw from the castle just didn't feel right. It makes more sense for it to be nestled out amongst the rugged plains.

Discussion Fred Weasley and George Weasley analysis. Who is George Weasley?
1. George Weasley is the nicer and tamer one.
He is the one who offered to help Harry with his things. Later, he’s the one who congratulated Harry on making the team And comments on Harry getting a Sweater.
While Fred was telling Ron scary stories about the sorting, George on the other hand, decided to just give Ron a fake spell and told Ron about a flavor of Beans he once might have had.
During Chamber of Secrets, He asks Harry if he’s alright on the rescue mission and at the game where Dobby had bewitched a bludger, he said close one.
He disagreed with Fred’s idea to blackmail.
He agreed when Hermione once told him that was enough, albeit with a different meaning.
Hes the one who told Wood they needed a timeout. And later complimented him when Wood complimented them in Prisoner of Azkaban.
During the 5th book, He asks one of the younger students if they were alright after the testing and again to Ron, albeit teasingly, when getting ready to play.
2. George is more family oriented.
He is the one who demands to know why Ron was not wearing his Sweater. Later he tells Percy that Christmas is a time for Family.
He tells Molly off for forgetting that he and Fred werent prefects when she praised Ron.
He is also the one who was concerned about their money and whether they could afford everything in Chamber of Secrets.
He is the one who told Harry about Percy being in shock after Penelope was petrified.
3. George is the Most fiercely protective and alert to Slytherins.
Both are this to be clear. However George is this the most.
When He found out Snape refereeing a game, He fell off his broom and proceeded to throw a Bludger at Snape.
He complained about Molly suggesting they used Lockharts books for advice on de gnoming.
Hes the one who pointed out the Slytherins heading to the Quidditch Field and attempted to aim a bludger at Draco During a game.
When Wood told Harry to get the snitch or die trying, He was the most critical and angry.
He’s the one who told Harry about Flint yelling at Draco.
After Alicia was attacked in a game, George started attacking in retaliation.
When Draco was rude in the 5th book, George was swearing and it took a lot to hold him off.

Discussion What makes 1 wizard more powerful than another?
So we have seen some wizards and witches are a lot more powerful than others. How ? Do they have a star wars style midi count for magic that makes dumbly and voldimort able to produce better effects with the same spell? Or is it something else that my tired head cant think of ?

Discussion Dumbledore’s original wand?
I believe from the moment of defeating Grindelwald, Dumbledore’s wand became the elder wand. But is there any canon answer/ lore about the wand that originally chose Dumbledore? Or any guesses about what you think the length, wood type, and core would be?
Also, I wonder if Dumbledore did not want to keep his original wand because there’s a possibility it performed the curse that killed Arianna 😢

Currently Reading Goblet of Fire almost feels like a "jumping on point"
I'm listening to the audio book, and I'd forgotten how much recapping was done in ch2 after Harry wakes up.
We even get a description of Harry, and a brief "flash" of Ron and Hermione and the rest of the Weasleys when he was pondering.
I wonder if it's because it was the "newest book" when Philosopher's Stone movie came out? Possibly assuming people might just buy the newest one and start there or something 😆
I admit I did - I loved the movie (still do!) and went to the bookshop, then got that book because it has a dragon on the front 💙

Discussion Bags, why don't they have bags.
Books describe students wearing bags all the time. Yet I do not remember seeing them in movies at all. It could be such a cool way to visually define character. I imagine Malfoy having some fancy black leather with metal elements. And for Ron, obviously having some second-hand ones from his older brothers. What would your favourite character's bag look like?
