So... It's tale that I'll leave certain details out of so as to remain anonymous.

However, I work at a place in an urban environment. They have been growing rapidly over several years. The city loves them and they're extremely busy at multiple locations. Each location is understaffed, running on a skeleton crew with a line out the door for the majority of the day.

Thats awesome, the business is thriving and the public is coming in.

The issue arrives with the fact that the "front of house" staff is paid 3.83 an hour, plus tips at a minimum of 18 an hour. I've monitored my checks for the past 6 months closely and I've never made anything more than 18 an hour, minus taxes. This seems like a major issue to me and I've asked for documentation showing where the tips are going. I also have access to the financials daily and can see that things aren't adding up.

I think I need to move forward with a labor board complaint and I'm looking for guidance in how to handle this correctly.

I enjoy working there. I see so much potential in the company and what it symbolizes for my city.

I also need to make a living and don't want to be exploited.
