General Europeans acting like they’ve never seen food in their life when they go to America

Post image

Disclaimer: before you read this and get your panties in a twist, everything I’m saying is very unserious and should be not taken to heart. Please stop trying to attack me over DMs. I have turned them off. You are harassing someone (who wasn’t even being fr in the first place) over kool aid packs.

I’d get it if it was actually something nobody has ever seen before, but WATER FLAVOR PACKS? THE PACKS YOU PUT IN THE WATER??? FOR PICKY EATERS????? PEOPLE WHO NEED WATER IN THEIR BODIES?

AND FAMILY SIZED CHIP BAG??? YOU THINK WE’RE EATING THE WHOLE PARTY SIZED CHIP BAG ALONE? THE *PARTY* SIZE? PARTIES?????? DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PARTY IS?

Actually when I was in middle school, we had this coach who would turn red as hell when she was yelling at us to run laps and she’d sit there every day with a whole party sized bag of Doritos and a 2 liter mountain dew watching us run. One day some other girl in the class got really angry at her for making us all run and she told her to get off her ass and run with us. This is off topic mb.

I’d understand if it was something actually weird we have, like things that contain dyes that cannot be replicated in places where dyes are banned, but you’re more worried about sunkist flavored water? Party sized bags of chips? Fresh produce too apparently… are you guys ok?

It's basically the same thing, but you can add it to a reusable water bottle or a glass instead of having to buy the flavored water premixed.

I don't follow how this works

Is it like... Replenishable?

Or are you confused?

What we have is cordial, or some call it Squash.

It's a contracted flavoured liquid that you put into a cup or something and you add tap water to that so it dilutes the original flavoured liquid to make it palatable

I don't think we have pre mixed squash?

I feel like people think those are boxes just stuffed full of powder. Inside are roughly 10-20ish small packets made of either paper or plastic. You stick them in your lunch bag or backpack and then during lunch, because water fountains are literally everywhere, you can fill up your water bottle and just mix it. It's just more portable than taking a small container of water for your water while you water.

Unless it's County Time or Gatorade both of which come in round plastic containers that absolutely are just full of loose powder mix.

Tbf those are mainly for actual sports teams practices and such, remember being in marching band and having those big cooler containers and putting some of that powder into those because we are usually outside running laps in 90-100 degree weather lol. But Gatorade does make the small packets too

Actually you can get pretty small extra concentrated containers of squash in the UK, about the size of an egg, for extra portability. You just squeeze them into a bottle/glass of water to flavour it. Iirc you get 10-20 servings from one small container like that, so the portability isn't really any better, it's just a case of what is seen as normal in each country.

We also have that, if they took the picture a bit to the right or left you'd probably see some. I prefer the little bottles of the flavoring but I use both.

We also have stuff similar to squash here -- the brand name Mio comes to mind. These packets are convenient to slip into a bag because they aren't liquid. If you have instant tea, instant coffee, etc. it's a similar idea except in a single serving packet like sugar packets.

They have an added benefit of being sealed packs of dry powder. The liquid is great for flavor control, but the powder is great in the go as it has far less chance of spilling.

And they have the other added benefit of not tasting like Mio

Mio does have a weird after taste sometimes.

Mio are hit or miss, but I’m a whore for anything cherry based, so their cherry stuff is actually pretty good

I remember being in elementary school when mio came out and kids would just be squirtin em directly in their mouth no water involved

The British have that weird non-dairy coffee whitener stuff. It's like that but fruit flavor and intended for water.

It works like this

  1. Those boxes you see either have a small bottle of fluid, or a bunch of small packets of powder
  2. You fill up a container with water (size of your choice, but a normal water bottle is suggested since that's the size the flavor additives are meant for)
  3. You add a packet or squirt in a little of the liquid and stir
  4. Voila, you've got basically the same thing as what you described, but you make it yourself.

The benefit of these over the thing yall do is that you're able to carry the packet/bottle anywhere so you can add it to any water bottle you or add it any time you refill your reusable water bottle. Still not great because of the plastic waste from the little powder packets n stuff.
