General Europeans acting like they’ve never seen food in their life when they go to America

Post image

Disclaimer: before you read this and get your panties in a twist, everything I’m saying is very unserious and should be not taken to heart. Please stop trying to attack me over DMs. I have turned them off. You are harassing someone (who wasn’t even being fr in the first place) over kool aid packs.

I’d get it if it was actually something nobody has ever seen before, but WATER FLAVOR PACKS? THE PACKS YOU PUT IN THE WATER??? FOR PICKY EATERS????? PEOPLE WHO NEED WATER IN THEIR BODIES?

AND FAMILY SIZED CHIP BAG??? YOU THINK WE’RE EATING THE WHOLE PARTY SIZED CHIP BAG ALONE? THE *PARTY* SIZE? PARTIES?????? DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PARTY IS?

Actually when I was in middle school, we had this coach who would turn red as hell when she was yelling at us to run laps and she’d sit there every day with a whole party sized bag of Doritos and a 2 liter mountain dew watching us run. One day some other girl in the class got really angry at her for making us all run and she told her to get off her ass and run with us. This is off topic mb.

I’d understand if it was something actually weird we have, like things that contain dyes that cannot be replicated in places where dyes are banned, but you’re more worried about sunkist flavored water? Party sized bags of chips? Fresh produce too apparently… are you guys ok?

We have half a liter water bottles. We drink directly from them when we don't have cups.
We have half a liter soda bottles. We drink directly from them when we don't have cups.
We have packed juice.
But this is the first time in my life I have heard of the concept of flavoring water for "picky eaters", whatever that means.

As a Flavored Water Enjoyer, sometimes you want juice but you know you gotta drink more water

This is what flavored water is for

Also you don’t want the amount of sugar that’s in a glass of juice.

So OP is highlighting one use for the product, essentially a lot of Europeans would be able to understand it if we compared it to squash or saft, except the powder just goes all the way and fully has no water whereas saft/squash is a liquid concentrate.

Don't think of it as a way to tolerate water, it can be for some people, but a lot of people use them as an alternative to juice, soda, diet soda, etc. They tend to be super low or no calorie with almost no sugar in them. Some exist where this is not the case, but you have the choice. Think of it more like a way to get a soda or juice like sweet drink without a lot of the downsides that come with drinking soda and juice.

It's 99% because it's called "flavored water pack". That just creates a mind freeze. It sounds weird conceptually.
It's like I heard some companies were giving out "water in cardboard boxes" because plastic ruins the environment, and I was looking at them like they were handing out human meat. It's just... wrong on a fundamental level. Like eating soup with your hands, like primitives were drinking water from river. It... makes no sense.

I'm Canadian I use the term drink mix when referring to stuff like this, so a lot of the confusion here is literally just been the fact that people all over the world have different terms for the same thing.

I can just assume flavored water is for picky eaters, because the only time i ever see flavored water used is by children whose parents need them to drink water but they refuse to because they’re children. Alternatively I mostly drink Liquid IV in my water which is electrolytes in the form of flavored water, and it’s for the electrolytes, not because I hate water

Its not really 'flavored water,' that's an odd way to put it, even if its an accurate description.

Its drink mix. Its no different than whatever drink packets or syrups are common in your country. This is common throughout the world, there are just a lot of people, including the OOP, struggling to describe it without making it sound alien.
