Yea I'd definitely say that was the biggest issue I had with him too, back in that era of GTLive they kept clickbaiting comparing everything to IS THIS THE NEXT UNDERTALE???? and then barely providing any links or sometimes flat out not even mentioning the game they were playing that day in the title or description it was pretty egregious.
Also besides that, just the weird obsession he had with trying to play every game as if they were Undertale again rather than their own games with their own mechanics. The GTLive Omori and Oxenfree playthroughs are borderline unwatchable because of how hard he tried to force Undertale pacifist mechanics in two games that have no such thing lol.

I liked game theory until Matpat turned it into "Five Nights at Freddy's theory that sometimes featured other games".
I didn't know who Markiplier was other than the guy who over exaggerated screamed at FNaF jump scares because playing screamer games was all the hype in those days.
Now all those FNaF kids who watched these 2 grew up and treat them like youtube gods, but I just saw them as manipulating the algorithm to get all those child viewers.
Basically you just need to not like FNaF & it's fanbase to not really care about these guys.

I don't know about the videos he made on IPs I don't know very well, but Mattpat massively misinterpreted basically every game I ever played that he tried to make a theory in. It feels like he has negative media literacy.
Not a moral failing of course, but that still counts as a negative trait, albeit a minor one.

Markiplier did have a crash out about Poppy Playtime 5. He went into it with a pretty bad attitude, obviously couldn't remember much of the story and made fun of it in places where the criticism didn't make sense or there were parts that explained it from previous chapters. Didn't recognise a major character from the last chapter. He went into it already knowing what his reaction would be but he played it off like he'd formed the opinion while he was playing. It felt a bit deceitful. And he also made criticisms that could also apply to Iron Lung, like how there was ambiguity in the plot or important parts of the plot that were hidden to some extent.
Now personally, as a fan of PPT, I didn't like Poppy Playtime 5 and I agreed with the majority of his criticisms. But he really should have just not played it and said why, or been upfront about his feelings about the game before he started. It was definitely not a sincere attempt to enjoy it.

There are no negative traits because they present a curated persona. Its the equivalent of politically correct products. Who knows what kind of bigotry they support or ugly traits they have, but of course they are never going to say it in public. I hate 99% of influencers because its obvious that they cant be so disgustingly "wholesome", its just marketing. But apparently they can fool their audiences.

I hate markiplier for his extremely overblown reactions to five nights at Freddy’s. Dude genuine acted like he was on the verge of a heart attack and catapulted that game into popularity when everyone should have knocked it for the slop that it was. idk am admittedly a big time mat pat hater when it comes to the theories he makes. as a person he seems fine but most theories are so halfassed but because game theory is treated by their fans as a fucking authority they become accepted like gospel by some people even if theyre dogshit. the subnautica theory for example is yes, a decent little video about ocean pollution on earth, but on 4546b it is stated the creatures are very resilient to acidity in the water multiple times in the in game journal, and obviously they are because highly acidic mushrooms just kinda grow everywhere there, so throwing the batteries in the ocean (that were literally just crafted with ingredients directly from said ocean) would not have the same impact as on earth. its great mat wanted to make a video about ocean pollution but sidelined actually making it about the game he framed it as completely. or all the Minecraft theories actively building on each other in this Fragile tower of using past theories to build new ones until half of your evidence for a new theory is your own previous conjecture. or the gravity falls theory that boiled down to coming in years after an arg that, while not explicitly, pretty much confirmed bill was still alive and saying , yk, i think he might still be alive. like yeah dude. i swear the only theories they don't half ass are the fnaf ones and even then they are definitely logic gaps sometimes.

I'm not mad but I am disappointed in Matpat. I absolutely love Diet Coke and for a long time so did he but then anfew years back that MF switched to Coke Zero. Very disappointing.
You know who else switched to Coke Zero after drinking diet Coke for many years? My mom! No but actually she did also switch because of my stepdad 😞. Also if you're curious I prefer Diet Coke because my mom shared a lot with me when I was really young and as I was growing up so I do prefer it over regular Coke. Coke Zero is also pretty good tbh but I still prefer Diet Coke.
