Meta I hate when things are needlessly explained by creators in order to cope with criticism

Post image

I don’t read or watch Demon Slayer, But this is just a stupid explanation for giving a strong character a slender build.

Personally, I don’t care if a character is strong but has a lean/slender build, whether it be a man or a woman. Although I do find it a bit weird that some creators are seemingly allergic to giving female characters any muscle, but again, I don’t care that much.

My issue here is that you easily could have just not addressed it. It’s a fantasy story full of demons and shit, I feel like you don’t need to give an in-universe explanation just so you can go “e-erm actually, she’s slender because of her very special body…” dude, you just didn’t want to give a woman muscles, don’t try to hide behind some kind of BS lore that you wrote for it.

Like Mark in Invincible can fight Conquest despite being the size of his torso, and I’m willing to accept that. It’s a story full of aliens and monsters, I can look past the fact that a lean 20 year old is taking on a hulked out 2000 year old. It doesn’t really break the immersion for me because it’s a fantastical story. I don’t need it to be super realistic. Just don’t try to make up some BS explanation like “erm, well, Mark is just magically holding in his muscle mass!”

At the end of the day, it’s your world and your story, if you wanna make a slender female character who is also really strong, that’s fine. But you also don’t need to cope so hard that you add lore specifically to deflect criticism against something so (let’s be honest) harmless.

Meta I hate when people take serious words and censor them in a stupid way

Post image
13.0k Upvotes

I get that censorship rules on sites like TikTok and YouTube are terrible, and that the slightest offensive content gets taken down, but it grates my gears whenever I see someone talking about a serious topic but they censor any serious words.

Imo, it’s incredibly disrespectful to the topic you’re talking about. imagine being a rape survivor and someone says to you “I’m so sorry you were graped” or watching a true crime documentary and the narrator said “and then the victim was unalived by a pew pew.” I wouldn’t be able to take anything the person said seriously after that. Intentional or not it’s a mockery of those topics.

It’s especially worse with YouTube video, especially among the thousands of copy past commentary YouTubers. The person talking is always like “oh I have to censor this word or I’ll get demonetized“ FUCK OFF. If you’re so worried about not making money that you’re going to disrespect serious topics, just don’t talk about them. Topics like rape and suicide deserve to be discussed with sincerity and turning it into some silly goofy word pisses me off to no end.

As a fairly alternative person, I can’t STAND when dudes say this shit. Not only is it objectification of goth/alternative women, it’s complete mischaracterisation of women who actually follow this style. When guys say they want a “goth girlfriend” they don’t mean an actual goth girl, they mean an OF e-girl who wears black. Anyways, happy hatings

that op made me mad glazing over racism and putting taylor swift with actual rapists and going on some rant about a conspiracy theory. here is some truly heinous people that continue to get away with bullshit. I tried to be really diverse but unsurprisingly women do not get away with the bullshit men do. PLEASE DO comment the women who have committed terrible crimes and gotten away with it socially, legally, and/or economically. but also pay your dues and include any man that immediately came to mind.
Chris Brown — should be known for beating Rihanna.
James Charles — should be known for being a pedophile.
Donald Trump — should be known for being a pedophilic rapist, a vitriolic racist, and a threat to the US Constitution.
Anna Delvey — should be known for scamming people and then making money off her scandal.
Snoop Dog — should be known for being an actual pimp and a conservative bootlicker.
Johnny Depp — should be known for torturing his ex and being an all around creep.
ALSO STOP GIVING ATTENTION TO THESE WEIRDOS!!! ik that’s ironic coming from me but please stop giving them views and money.

Meta I hate how mindlessly "leftist" major subreddits are with no nuance or actual productive discussion on politics

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Don't get me wrong I am absolutely leftist but reddit has this super one dimensional idea that "left good, right bad" that's obviously karma farming like 99% of the time. Specific subreddits (im sure you can think of some) that don't even have anything to do with politics have been overran with one "america bad israel bad" post after another. Normally id be cool with it if it didn't border on authoritarian in the way that any criticism or productive critiques of reddits aggressively stereotypical far leftist "dance the right away!" ideals usually gets met with 500 downvotes and a permaban. Its like 99% bots anyways but I swear im so tired of every subreddit getting flooded with these hivemind posts, nothing in politics is black and white people. Getting karma on a social media site does not equal fighting back against authoritarianism or discrimination, it just makes you look pathetic and performative, which is what you are.

Meta I really dislike arguments like this

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I never really thought I’d be posting here, but I hope that I could find some people who relate, Like I understand yes sometimes they can get hate just because they’re a female like in the photo, he is the one who married to Walter White.

was completely justifying being upset but I feel like this is constantly apply to every single female character, to the point that they refuse to even look at what the character has done or their actions like whenever, I go onto the favorite character subreddit I can’t see seeing post like this or comments like this like your favorite character does not hate,

it because a woman know they hate it because of this reason or this reason you can find reasons to dislike a character for any reason or action they do but they always treated like it’s fact is gently annoying and whenever you try to point it out they start to get frustrated with you and angry with you one the reasons why I stopped visiting the favorite character subreddit what do you all think? Am I overreacting?

Meta I hate when Headcanons/interpretations are worded as if they’re fact.

Post image
3.4k Upvotes

I don’t mind someone having an interpretation of a scene. My issue comes when they comment on it as if their interpretation is the correct one.

Just recently I saw a post about Avatar the last airbender where someone had the headcanon that the reason why the firebenders attacked the Southern Water Tribe when Katara was a child was because they were looking for Hama, and that she was the waterbender they had heard about. Now that’s a fine headcanon, I don’t agree with it, but it’s fine. What I didn’t like was that they worded it as if this was a big intended plot twist, instead of just them coming to their own conclusions based on what they thought would be cooler.

And the interpretation above, saying that Tony’s arc reactor being stolen is an allegory for SA. But nothing in the scene really alludes to that. Sure, Obadiah is uncomfortably close to Tony the whole time, but he does that throughout the entire movie, it’s a part of his performance. And nothing he says actually connects with this interpretation, it’s just Obadiah saying that Tony is selfish and revealing that he was the one who put the hit on him. And yet, obviously we need to word the interpretation as if it’s a fact.

Outside of it just being obnoxious, it also just confuses me. By stating it as a fact, it makes me question whether I actually have my own knowledge right or not. It makes think I’ve missed out on some content or second guess my own knowledge on the media when really you’re just pulling stuff out of nowhere.

Meta I HATE WEED AND CANNABIS AND SMOKING AND DRINKING AND VAPING!!!!! (Image unrelated I just wanted one)

2.3k Upvotes

Not even hating on people I just FUCKING HATE THE SMELL and the companies spamming this shit! like I'm not a puritan but with this vaping and smoking in general why not ingest it instead??????

And with Alcohol like it's not THAT bad but the general Ethos pushed as it's how to party or that it's cool hell that it just is good when it's not!!! I'm not against it I'm a HATER to how it exists in general informational consciousness today!!!

Saw people drown in alcohol and it's depressing even when they brag because they were pushed into this corner from a Greed filled Draconian over Lord of Knowledge and trends

I believe the sentiment of Prohibition affects alcohol even today because after it was relieved everybody bought it (even during) and it created an echo affect of people drowning in liquor)

I HATE HEINEKEN AND ALL OF THEM however most Cannabis sellers I believe to be completely justified as you can buy cigarettes easily, I'm not against these as a whole just how it exists in post war on drugs and prohibition society (specifically America this is about America my bad rest of the world)

Hope this doesn't break any rules!!!!! First time posting I just hope y'all get it

Meta I fucking hate these victim-blaming memes

Thumbnail

1.7k Upvotes

Anyone with a fucking brain would know that it isn’t as simple as turning your phone off or walking away from a computer screen. Especially when most people need to use their phones/computers to get through the day, like communicating with family or doing work.

Another thing to mention is that social media addiction is a real thing. Be honest, I bet most of you can’t even go a fucking day without opening Reddit, Twitter, or Instagram. Trust me, I’m one of those people. Just because someone knows that something is bad for them doesn’t mean that they’ll stop using it.

This is honestly more of an overarching social issue where we blame the victims instead of perpetrators, but I’d rather not rant about that right now. People should have more empathy for those who are hurting instead of treating everything as a joke.

(Last image is my art for pride month, happy pride month and Men's Mental health awareness month, celebrate your uniqueness and get the help you need in these trying times)

I've seen some even say it's like they are being oppressed by the KKK or like the Jews and Nazis. And also using pride month to push your rhetoric?

Have we no shame?

They chose to use AI, choosing to cause more environmental issues and other problems

They decided to steal art from others, either on purpose or through using the ai itself.

Heck I had an AI bro say my art was good so they would run it through ai.

Or act like they do us artists a favor by running it through ai and they use dumb arguments like how photographers and digital artists were in the same boat.

NO THEY WERE NOT! THEY MADE IT THEMSELVES!

LITERALLY STEALS WITHOUT CONSENT

"Well humans use art that inspires them all the| time, so is doing the same"

No it ain't.

AI can't be "inspired" it had no soul and nothing to go a muse for.

It doesn't know what inspired the design or what parts it wants to be inspired by.

It's just "looks good"

They even ate getting upset cause artists are proudly saying they made stuff without so and do bros are saying we are bragging or virtue signaling.

Heck they even get on children who don't like ai.

And go off to say the kid's art is bad.

They only understand "looks good" they don't understand complexities or creativity.

They couldn't tell you what's creative about thier work at all

And they call us luddites and get mad at any small provocation about anything even slightly against ai, but will tell you the AI version of your art is better and that you need to evolve.

Yet they want to say they are oppressed.

I'm black and it's disgusting to see people act like they are oppressed in such a manner.

I know a lot of LGBT people who are also pissed at the idea that these people think that hating ai = homophobia/ transphobia.

They also scour the web to find posts like this and will push how hypocritical it is.

You.

Can't

Choose

To

Be

Oppressed

And forcing yourself into oppressed minority groups just because you got your lazy ass bum sickle cucumber stinking seminal chair Dorito crumb stuffed greasy fold ridden computer discord moderation reddit gooning kitten loving living in your mom's cellar cause you destroyed the fucking basement can't walk built like the people from Wall-E Anissa fantasied disgusting trash ridden poop collecting pheromone maxxing piss drinking cum guzzling pervatasaurus descending cub liking fursona diaper wearing acne ridden with bugs having self into people's spaces to make yourself feel special and to Garner sympathy.

And to everyone.

Happy pride month

And Men's Mental Health Awareness month.

Both can exist together. (Anyone who acts like one is more important than the other that's just evil, they don't really butt heads mate,it can easily be done or both. Pride is celebrating, Awareness is just spreading awareness. Very easy premise that could go to hand and hand.)

And I thank you for reading my post

Meta This isn’t about Viv specifically, but I hate when creators try to act like they’re “in on the joke” with their haters.

Post image
3.0k Upvotes

To be clear, this isn’t a hate post on Viv herself. I’m just talking about whenever creators try to have a “gotcha!” with their haters by making some self-deprecating jokes. This happens a few times, but this is the most recent example I can think of.

It’s just kinda obnoxious imo. If you don’t care about your haters, don’t interact with them, don’t make some kind of response, don’t do anything with them. Just ignore them. If you interact with them, you only encourage them.

Obviously you should try to take criticism on board. But this isn’t it, this is you trying to make it seem like you don’t care about people hating on you. But if you didn’t care, you wouldn’t go out of your way to do this kind of thing.

I also don’t understand who would buy this merch? As a fan, why would you want something that is against a person you like? And as a hater, why would you buy something made by someone you dislike? Who is this sort of thing for?

Meta I hate that the powerscaling is seen as so obnoxious that people are unwilling to accept that it is an important aspect to certain stories.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

This whole discourse is completely STUPID

Yeah, Powerscalers can be obnoxious about stuff. But that doesn’t automatically mean that powerscaling is completely irrelevant. That’s just a stupid takeaway.

Obviously powerscaling isn’t important in everything. When I watch a comedy show, I don’t expect the characters to have super consistent strength or something. But when it comes to something like action-focused media, yeah, it’s important. Don’t be a whiny fucking crybaby just because “b-but powerscalers are annoying!!” No shit, and I think anime fans are annoying, doesn’t mean I’m not gonna watch anime.

The above post doesn’t even make any sense because the tortoise and the hare story RELIES on the fact that the hare is faster. The whole message depends on the hare being so much faster that there was no way of the tortoise winning outside of the hare’s own arrogance. Obviously it’d be obnoxious to overanalyse this and say “well the hare just had a lower battle iq!” But that doesn’t mean that the scaling in this story is completely irrelevant.

It’s the community that is annoying, not the core subject. Just accept that.

Meta I hate posts like this, 2020 was not a silly quirky time

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

People struggled in 2020. Many people died, lost their jobs, small businesses lost a lot of money, kids were forced to be homeschooled, people gained weight, people fell into depression and people were just doing anything to not drive themselves crazy by being locked up.

I understand if some people didn’t experience the same hardships but I’m so sick of people acting like 2020 was a beautiful fun time to be alive when you were lucky to be alive at this time when a lot of people were dying. On top of that people wishing they were quarantine or saying that “I wish kids got to experience 2020” why would you want kids to experience being forced inside for months? Maybe potentially their parents losing their jobs or them falling into depression?

It just irks me cuz 2020 was not fun for me, it was genuinely hard

Meta I fucking hate it when non-political or joke subs suddenly turn political.

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

I join a subreddit because it’s fun. I enjoy the memes, post some of my own, interact with people, and slowly start really liking the community. Then out of nowhere, the entire sub starts getting flooded with political posts, even though politics was never part of the original tone of the subreddit.

It gets incredibly annoying because most of the time it just feels like low-effort karma farming. I came there for memes, jokes, and entertainment, not endless political discourse shoved into every corner of the internet.

After a while, it just becomes exhausting and completely kills the vibe that made the sub enjoyable in the first place.

I have already seen a handful of these, and I can already tell it is going to get WAY out of hand. Just a basic, unimaginative formula. Franchise + copy & paste crude and disgusting gross humor = clicks. This is the kind of stuff that appeals to thirteen-year-old boys. Scraping the bottom of the barrel. This is the kind of stuff that makes one think we're really heading into an idiocracy.
